Default Interior Noises Fixed

After almost 1-1/4 years living with misc. ticks and creaks, I took my GS in for interior repair. I told the dealer to keep it as long as they want until they're satisfied with it. They had the car for 2 weeks and did a superb job of quieting the noises. I had their loaner car for the entire time and I didn't care that my car was at the dealer that long.

The car is much, much quieter now and it's quieter than new. They applied every related TSB and found a couple other things too. One of the problems was a cracked windshield by the low cowl darkened glass area. They replaced the windshield free of charge. They also spot welded an area on or by the "A" pillar.

I'm very happy with the results. I'm lucky that I have a great dealer and service advisor that was just as persistent as I would have been to fix every little noise.

Wow, spot welded? That means that they must have painted as well. Did you authorize that or did they just do it on their own?

The spotweld was on the inside. The exterior was not affected.

I am glad to hear they fix the nosies in your ride. It gives me hope that
they will fix mine They have had it in three times already, but maybe
the 4th time is the charm.

That's good to hear. I need to bring in my GS to get rid of the various rattles.

Compared to the new '07 Escalade I picked up this weekend, my GS is just a plain rattle trap. The new Escalade has zero rattles, although I wonder if this will still be the case after a few thousand miles. Anyhow, guess its time to visit the dealer.

Good to know they got rid of the creaks and squeaks. I have an annoying windshield squeak and moonroof creak that I'll mention to them next time I bring in my car for service.

I had rattling noise coming from the driver's side seat belt area and after 4 visit, they got it fixed. Now, I hear a noise when ever I open the driver's side window about 1/8 of an inch. It only happens when the weather's cold and I'm afraid if I take it in to the dealer, they'll just say they can't replicate the problem. The other problem is the sun-roof.

Unfortunately, the dealer that I take my car to really sucks. My family owns other lexus's and haven't had any problems what-so-ever, but with mine, I feel like I bought a ford.

Everytime I hear the Lexus commercial on radio and the guy says, "In the pursuit of Perfection" and I'm like, Yeah Right! Perfecting having me come in again to the dealer again and again and again.

But overall, I'm glad to hear that you got your problem fixed

Here's some TSBs for the windshield noises:

Interior - Rattle From Instrument Panel
http://www.alldata.com/tsb/Lexus/115...-06/index.html

Upper and or Lower Windshield Ticking Noise
http://www.alldata.com/tsb/Lexus/115...-06/index.html

I'm going to print them out and bring them to the dealer next time I go for service.

Anyone know where the TSB is for the moonroof creak?

Following up on my original post, good thing I said much quieter rather than it's perfect. Now the car has a few new dash noises that it didh't have before. It's still much better than before the service, but I'm a little bummed out over the new noises.

Default Dash noises fixed, again.

I'm resurrecting my old post about interior noises. Since my last post in this thread the dash noise had dramatically increased again. The tapping noises were coming from the center dash and to the right.

I took the car to the dealer on Monday and picked it up today. The dealer said the noise went away after removing the windshield cowl. So, they insulated it and the noise is gone, at least for the moment. I drove it this morning and the temperature was in the low 40s. They did not order a new cowl.

The interior is much quieter than before, but every now and then I still hear some kind of odd noise, but at least it's no longer the really obnoxious tapping noises from the dash. It's progress, but that's what I thought last time too.

Default Similar problem

I've been experiencing similar problem. I'm not sure how to describe the sound, but it's a bit annoying. If I take this to the dealer, I know exactly what they're going to say...

It's all due to the modification.

If you have any home remedies, please share your thought.

Thanks

As you probably already know, there is another thread that talks in great lengths about some of the fixes that different folks are trying. For me, I decided to try some strips of microfiber towels (same type that I use to clean the car with) by stuffing them down between the dash and the windshield. I first starting using my fingers to push them towels down in between the dash and windshield but that tends to hurt the ole fingers after a while. I then just started (carefully) using a screwdriver tip to do the job. It works nicely. I was able to fix one area of "clicking" type noises but I still have some other areas of the dash/windshield that are making the noise so my goal is to do more of the same this weekend to try and remove the rest of them. So far so good ... I will keep you posted.

It just baffles me that the GS has these issues. My service manager at Infiniti mentioned he was aware of the spot welding scenario on the "A" Pillar on the GS.. I remember all the TSBs on the early Infiniti G35s for the first 3 years and there were plenty. I have decided to hold off on purchasing the GS until I'm confident that the major rattles have been quieted and resolved. I still love this car but cann't deal with rattles in any price range especially 50 big ones.

Every car will always have it's issues. My 80K 550i that I recently sold had a rattle as well. Every car will be updated as well. By the time you think they solved the rattles issue with the GS, a new generation will be out, and then the 3rd generation will be outdated and you will want the 4th edition now..... but wait, now the 4th generation has "something" that needs to be worked out.... Every car /ever brand will have something....
Just get the car for however long it is you keep cars, for me abour 4 years at most, then get a new one.....
just like computers, the second you buy one, it's already outdated and something better is already out...
If it makes you feel any better, I was able to get my dash rattle resolved. No more noise... and I have the 450h, so it doesn't make any noise at all, almost virtually quiet the whole time I'm in the car, except road noise....
I'm very happy with it....
