Bank of Mommy and Daddy. How else?
Trust me, this is not that bad. You should check out the 6speedonline forum. There are kids there under 25 with CLS63 AMGs and 997 turbos as daily drivers.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Must be nice to come from money!

I'm 42 - an elder statesman, it appears.
Maybe a better poll would be on how we paid for the 3GS:
1) Paid cash
2) Financed
3) Leased
The answers might put a different spin on the age results. I paid cash (along with my trade-in), but mostly because I hate financing anything. I'd rather be temporarily broke than stuck with big monthly bills.![Thumb Down](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsdown.gif)

Well older apparently doesn't mean financially wiser...

28 and leased
Not meaning to be rude, just raking ya a bit, but why would you waste 50k on a depreciating asset? That's essentially putting 50 large in a hole dug in your back yard.
In contrast to that you could likely have your car paid for by interest
eg
50k @ 10% for 4 years = 74467.70
50k @ 10% for 5 years = 82265.45
82k @ 10% ~ $680/month in interest....which is a lease payment. This means you would have a car that paid for itself by investing the money you allocated for a car.
In contrast you stuck $50k into an asset that loses value, so at the end of 4 years you'll have ~51% (residual)

Thats a nice calculation, but you forgot one thing...
RISK
You may gain 10%, maybe 15%, or... maybe lose 10%.
Hey, I leased too, but I wouldn't say its the smartest way to go given all the options if you have the cash.
When people get into these debates about leasing and investing the money instead, they usually leave out the risk.
Whats risk worth? Or, lack of?

I agree with paying cash if you have it. The credit mentality breeds on itself. The more you do it the more you want or believe in it. Paying cash is the true american way. It means that person has lived responsibly to have the cash on hand. This person has probably made good financial decisions in most situations. I agree a car is a decreasing asset but if you have the cash, I say do it.
