I think the average GS owner is male and in his late 40's. The GS is refined sport/luxury which means it gets a slightly older crowd than the 5 series.
The E class is probably similar to the GS maybe even a little older.

If 40% (see earlier post in this thread, giving the 2008 stats) are age 57 or older, then one can reasonably guess that the average GS owner is probably in the very early 50s.

I think the poll is probably incorrectly weighted toward the younger owners because this is the age group more likely to be on forums talking about their cars. Older drivers are probably not represented well because many of them don't hang around forums.

you have to also take in the fact that most older people won't be visiting this forum.

I'm 41 and just joined. Would have joined sooner but my GS350 was laid up for a few months after I got it. Had it 5 days and some nice gentleman in a box truck decided to pull out in front of me. 2 and a half months later, it's back.

Coming from a BMW 540, the GS has its good points and not so good points. The Japanese still haven't quite gotten the hang of proper ergonomics but I get treated a lot better at Lexus of Towson than any BMW dealer I've been to.

RacerX1116, I disagree about proper ergonomics. I find that its the European cars that doesnt have proper ergonomics. The i-drive for example is simply stupid, you need a passenager just to to operate the air conditioner lol. All the Japanese cars I had was better ergonomics wise compare to my old BMW and VW. Another thing is that Lexus' buttons are layout nicely and nice and big.

I agree that the i-drive is possibly one of the worst features ever to be thrown in a car but, in my BMW:
- I never accidentally opened the sunroof attempting to turn on a dome light. In fact, I had one switch that would lift or open the roof, not two sets of switches on opposite sides of the light switches

- Despite having less glass displays, I could see my trip odometer (it was always displayed) without having to take my eyes off the road to fumble for the button behind the panel

- I didn't have to open a panel to do half the things that requires this effort in the GS (yes, it's been remedied for 08 but to set things up this way to begin with is just dumb)

- I got to see what radio station was playing displayed right in front of me rather than having to look at the center stack

- The center stack was more oriented toward the driver than the Lexus not facing the middle of the car.

Don't get me wrong, I like my GS a great deal but there are a few things that Lexus just didn't get right that BMW did. I find I have to take my eyes off the road a bit more with the Lexus than I ever did with the BMW's I've had.

I am 26 and I just got my 3GS almost a week ago.

It is nice to see so many younger guys with the finances and the style to drive a 3GS.
