You need at least one master key in order to program the computer to recognize others. If you dont have at least one key, you are looking at BIG $$$ because you will have to replace the entire ECU in addition to the cost of the new keys themselves. I don't know the exact price on the ECU but you are probably looking at around $2K or more

i'm pretty sure you don't have to replace your ecu. this happened with my IS where i lost my keys and i sent my ecu out and had it reflashed. i had my spare and just used that to cut new keys and reprogrammed my keys.

not exactly sure how it would work with the new keys though but i'm sure it's pretty similar.

the way I read the original poster's msg, he didnt even have a spare. (Not that there is a "spare" concept in the new keyless ignition cars. All keys are equivalent and there is no valet key, etc. The cars only come with 2 transmitters nowdays).

Per the manual, you need at least one transmitter in order add additional transmitters to the system. Without it, the instructions are to replace the computer and the keys.

From page 490 in the owners manual

IF YOU LOSE YOUR KEYS OR
LOCK YOURSELF OUT

You can purchase a new key at your Lexus dealer if you
can give them the key number and electronic key.
Even if you lose only one key, contact your Lexus dealer to
make a new key. If you lose all your electronic keys, you
cannot make new keys; the whole engine immobilizer must be
replaced.

See the suggestion given in “Keys” on page 8.
You can use the smart access system with push-button start
with the new key. Contact your Lexus dealer for detailed
information.

If your keys are locked in the vehicle and you cannot get a
duplicate, many Lexus dealers can still open the door for you,
using their special tools. If you must break a window to get in,
we suggest breaking the smallest side window because it is the
least expensive to replace. Be extremely cautious to avoid
cuts from the glass.
