Steering Wheel Illumination
Hi All,
I just made the switch from BMW 5 to a Lexus. So far I love the 350, but have noticed one thing. The interior isn't as well lit. Does anyone know how to adjust the lighting for the steering wheel radio/phone buttons and the power window switches? I can't seem to find it in the manual.
Thanks!!

The illumination control is in the drop-down panel at the left of the steering wheel. But I suspect you've already tried that. If you need more light use the spots and/or sun-visors.
The interior is lit by LED's - on the plus side they give the car a sort of post-modern coollness and look great if you're wearing a white shirt. Try approaching the car at night when it's dark all around and notice how it lights up before you unlock it - really cool.
I didn't realise the steering wheel was lit when I first got the car

I completely agree with you. I sold my 328Ci for my 430 and the
steering wheel controls brightness is not as good.
I dont think the radio/phone controls get any brighter. sorry.

how exciting; i guess you learn something new every day. i just didn't think it'd be after 18 months of having the car.
i suspect you are just getting used to Toyota green after living with BMW orange. Audi red is so bright compared to the Toyota green.

False, they do light up, but they are very very dim. You literally have to be in a pitch black room to see the backlight...and cover up the LED spot light to see it. This is the same for the previous gen ES300/330, RX330/350 and etc.
There is no way to adjust the brightness unless someone is daring enough to crack open the steering wheel and it's buttons to access the small bulb in there.

Steve,
Dave is right. They do light up, but very very dim......
I actually like that. We have a Volvo XC90 and the lights on the steering wheel are too bright. It bothers me at night while driving.
Or maybe it's my old age thing again....
