GS350 in snow
We had our first Front Range snowfall tonight and I had to drive the GS for 60 miles in BAD weather. As a 10 year SUV driver, I was very impressed with how well the GS stuck to the road. Not nearly as impressed with the rain sensing wipers, at times it let enough moisture accumulate to make me uncomfortable - switched to manual wipers and felt more at ease.
I was nervous switching from a Jeep to a sedan for our Colorado winters, tonight cemented my mind that I made the right decision in picking up the awesome GS350 AWD.

I tell you, Lexus AWD even on the RX330 are very predictable and excellent. I cannot wait to drive in the snow with my Lexus GS300 AWD, even though in Michigan, snow usually comes at unpredictable times starting from Late nov or even late dec. I am getting excited hehehhehe.

I got caught in the Front Range snow as well. My previous vehicle was a lifted GMC Crew Cab that went anywhere in the snow. Driving low to the ground and the pull on the tires when changing lanes was quite different. BUT, I have to say the GS AWD handled quite well, and once I got used to it, I felt very comfortable. I agree on the auto wipers - they aren't as good in the snow and when you have some ice build up on the wipers.
I saw a guy in a G35 coupe struggling on a very small hill on a freeway entrance ramp and smiled knowing that was almost me!!! I'm ready for my first trip to Vail in the snow in the GS!!!!!!!

My skis work in the passthrough. I'm going to get a nice waterproof bag for my skis so I don't end up trashing the interior at all. And I'll probably still have plenty of towels on hand/ in the trunk, just in case. I need to get me some all weather mats too for the front seats for the winter. And, most of my friends board and boards fit in the trunk.
Not a perfect solution, but I don't want to spoil the lines of this car with a rack.
I'm planning to drop mine soon too, so if I get it done before the next snow, I'll give an update. Going with the NF's. Waiting until Spring to get some new wheels and I'll keep the stockers for winter.

I've got a yakima rack system on my current car, and my plan was always to buy new mounting feet for the towers for whatever new car I get, but they don't have any for the GS...the towers/bars are removable, its a great system, all you're left with is 4 1.5 inch tall black plastic feet, which doesn't ruin the lines too badly...oh well, maybe it will call for some engineer skillz.
