HID fog question

HID fog question
I have seen a couple of threads about HID fogs and light color but nothing really about light output. Right now the fogs are weak and I can't say that they even help as far as light output. Do the HID fogs put out enough light that it makes a difference?
I drive a lot and my office out of town requires that I drive on rural highways with no lighting. I am not interested in making my car look cool or match the HID headlights, I only want more light. Is this a worthwhile mod for my purposes?

I certainly don't want to aim them high or anything to blind oncoming drivers, I just want to have a little more peripheral light and light right in front of the car. Pretty much what the factory fogs should do just a lot brighter.

IMO, the 5000K has the most output that has a "blu~ish" hue. The 3000K probably projects more light output than the 5000K, but the color is yellow. It's dependant on what look and functionality you desire. hope this sheds somelight on the subject. (no pun intended! )

I think it's the mod makes a substantial difference. The key point, IMO, is to keep the Kelvin Temp below 6000K (i'm running 5000k). It seems that the lower K's allow for more light output on the road. Some of the 8000K and 10000K kits project a darker hue of purple and blue, thus blending n w/ the asphalt. I'm very happy w/ my 5000K and I know some otheres are loving the 3000K Yellow ones.

If my memoery serves me right, steve from XenonDepot told me that the 4000K yellow HID's although they equal the same 4000K as stock, they actually produce 4400 Lumens. So they are actually a little bit brighter, but the BEST purchase for the closest match. Plus this color light instead of a higher Kelvin light is best for fogs. Becuase during snow/fog it reflexs better.
Yup.

Hello,
I would go for the 3000k kit if you wanted the most functional upgrade.
The 3000k bulbs are designed for fog/snow applications.

so I ordered my HID kit for fogs from XenonDepot. Supposed to arrive today, no luck. Grrrrr. Was excited. Thought I'd be able to install this evening. No luck I guess. Maybe tomorrow. Any idea Steve?
