Out the door? Sales tax?

No, that was before tax and license. They did give me a pretty good trade-in value for my 2003 RX300, though.

$500 over invoice without paying anything for Dealer Prep is the right number.

But you won't get anywhere close to that in high-demand areas right now. It depends where you live, but the demand for GS350's in Northern California is such that they aren't going to give you a price like that. Maybe by March...

Are you kidding ... it's posted all over these forum's and the internet on how to do it.

Go to www.edmunds.com or www.kbb.com and get what the invoice prices are to work from. Go to fightingchance.com if you want more background info. Get to know the holdbacks, floorplan and advertising fees.

Go to Costco or AAA's auto buying programs and request quotes. Go to 3 or 4 different dealers for these quotes and encourage them to compete for your business. These all initially came in at $1000 to $1500 over and then was able to work them down.

Find an aggressive dealer that wants your business and is willing to work with you on a reasonable price point and profitability - i.e. $500 over.

Be willing to wait and be willing to walk away. Sunday night - End of Quarter are best times but it's not impossible any other time. Make the final negotiation quick. Longer you're there, the more they'll wear you down. Basic rules of negotiation.

It took me about 2 weeks to get it all set-up and done and had the car the next day from the final negotiation.

My last purchase was the GX470 in '03 when it first came out. Most dealers were not willing to deal ... thru persistance I got it at my target of $500 over.

And be willing to travel to California where there are dealers that might be willing to sell you one at that price!

- You'd never get that deal in Minneapolis, unless you were buying some Lexus that nobody else wanted. Why should they sell it to you for $500 over invoice, when there is someone else willing to pay a lot more. - Supply and demand!

Their last offer is $47,000 out the door. I may need to jump on that.

That is true...the fact that there are so many Lexus dealerships located close to one another (especially here in So. Cal.) makes it easier to negotiate a good price.
