I noticed that the GS350 stock Yokohama tires has a treadwear of only 150!
You gotta be kidding me. That won't last too long. 10,000 miles?
Do you have the option to get Michelins?

Yeah, that's pretty bad. My 300 came with Dunrop SP Sport 2050's and they have a 360AA treadwear rating.
I don't know.. Maybe see if your dealership will switch them out for you?

that treadwear does stink..i just got my 350 so i can't tell you much about my treadwear...i only have about 600 miles on my car. I am in for a big change though.. My RX will go about 60k miles before I need to change the tires, but with 18s on this car, it's a whole different ball game.

i have the dunlop run flat for the AWD version of the GS350. there was a sticker on the door claiming the tire will get about 20k miles max. not great for the pocket. does anyone know of a better option when it comes time to replace the runflat tires?

they're probably more expensive because they don't last as long, softer rubber wears out quicker. My pirelli pzero russos on my audi lasted about 15k miles. I paid about 750 for 4 225/40/18 on tirerack.com. You can Falken tires for the GS 18" for about $500 a set installed that'll last you an easy 20-25k miles.

That's a lot for PZero Rossos! The rears on my old 2001 996 cab needed to be replaced every 9k miles.

I can't believe Lexus put on some cheap a** tire for a $48K car.
By the way.....I was paying attention to the engine noise when the car was parked..... I can still hear the loud ticking sound coming from the direct injection. So, that tells me that they didn't fix it even with the new 3.5L engine.

the stock yoko advans are really awful. you are right, they don't belong anywhere near the GS. we forced ourselves to change them after 15k miles, about 10k too long b/c they started to howl very early on. you can look at reviews on tirerack or discounttire and you'll see many, many GS owners complaining of the exact same thing. and i'm talking LOUD - like over radio/telephone/talking/etc. the only time you cannot hear it is if you have your windows rolled down (then all you hear is wind).
the sad thing is when we replaced them (or as we lived with the noises for 10k miles beyond), there is PLENTY of tread left in perfect shape. the design of the tread causes the loudest ringing noise imaginable for a tire. i have never experienced it before on all our previous lexuses. do yourself a favor and change them ASAP if you can. that way you might be able to get some money for them on the market.

Yah it is, I drove like a grandma and my car is AWD so the rears don't get worn out like the porsche. And i wore them down til they were almost bald before i got Falken ST-511s for about $450 installed.

After reading the Yoko history info. here on CS, I am glad I had them replace the stock Yoko's with the Michelin Pilot Sports.... they seem to ride great so far (450 miles this week). Thanks for the feedback everyone... hopefully it will help other new buyers down the road....
