Can't get 450h without Navigation?
#16
It has some of the most advanced technology found in any car in the world. If you not going to use the features of this car why are you buying such an advanced vehicle for daily commutes? I bet once you have the car, you won't be able to stay out of it and find yourself using the car all the time.
By the way, if you were able to get one without NAV, It bet it would hurt resale value. Most people today want Navigation. The dealers all complain that they can never get enough cars with Navigation. Trust me, once you have it, you'll be glad its there.

Actually the opposite is true.
When a car is new is the time dealers can extract the most value for fancy gadgets. Once they hit the used market, all the extra's lose the most value.
The acid test would be to compare the residual value % on a barebones model vs a fully loaded one. More often than not, the fully loaded one has a lower % residual.
But that's academic - if I don't need it I don't need it!

Understood, if you don't need it you don't need it. But are you keeping the car forever? Most people want that option when you sell it. Besides, it looks that that isn't an option on the 450h.
Enjoy the Navigation.

For a daily driver why not just get a Camry Hybrid?

dude, if youre spending that much on a car who cares about the navigation. buy the nav and forget the navi is even there. there probably are tons of features on other vehicle that some people will never use, however they are still there. most luxury vehicles in this catagory will have the nav. i think you are putting too much emphasis on this nav issue. i know it's a 1800 to 2000 dollar option, but if you have 60K to spend on a vehicle the nav is a moot point. bottom line buy the car and ignore the nav.

point well taken, but you misunderstood what i am trying to say. it will be much more difficult to get that car without the nav than it is to get with the nav. it may not be possible to order that particular car without the nav. i dont believe lexus even offers it that way. you are right about the money part, but if not having the nav is that big of a problem for him then maybe the lexus 450 isnt the car for him. however, if this is the car he really wants then just accept the fact that he will have the nav. bottom line if you really want the car buy it and enjoy it. there is an option to turn the screen off if it bothers you that much
