Default What MPG do you get from your GS430 in traffic

Hi guys

Trying to determine if the GS430 is right for my needs.

I live in London UK so drive in traffic a lot (stop/start)

The GS is to replace my MBZ C240.

Could you vote in the poll please, as to what MPG do you get from the GS430 in city driving (traffic).

Thanks a million

local commuting (lights every few hundred yards, stop and go situations) is actually worse than light traffic going constant cruise @ 15-20mph.

my husband has a 7mi local commute with about 20 lights and gets between 16-17mpg on that route.

highway is better, 25-26mpg pretty easily @ 75-80mph.

Lexuslover, many thanks

This is great news for me, if this is US mpg then 16mpg US = 19.2 mpg UK

I find this very difficult to comprehend though as Lexus UK quotes
19.6 mpg for the GS300 not the GS430!!!!
They quote 17.3mpg for the GS430 which is 14.4mpg in the USA

I don't know how the figures could be that different between Lexus US & Lexus UK!!!

They also quote the GS430 at 280bhp not 290bhp as the US!!

If you live in London the GS450h is way to go, no congestion charges, lower CO2 taxes and better performance and better gas mileage (mine got 21MPG (USA) average in the last 5k miles, 70% city, 30% highway)
It just may be a tad more expensive though :-)

US city driving is not same as Euro... you will get a lot lower mpg if you live in European city - because there is a lot of stop and go driving + you often drive very short commutes, unlike in USA.

GS450h is way to go when it comes to that

I usually get around 19 to 20 MPG around town here in mile-hi Denver. And that's with 85/87 octane fuel, we can get away with it at this altitude.

Mine is almost all stop and go traffic city driving: I get about 15-17 mpg unless I jump on for an occasional freeway burst in which case it bumps to 18-20.

In my 2008 GS350 which I drive mainly in town, I get 17-18 MPG (that's US miles) so far. I'm guessing that a V-8 would get less. I haven't gotten 18 yet.

there is a big discrepancy between my wife's driving style and mine...
she has the heavy foot...but so far, Ive noticed with my city driving....
my average - 17-18mpg (I did average 20mpg for 2 days)... on the freeway...at +80mph cruising - 25-27mpg
on the flipside - my wife gets 15-17 mpg (stop and go local traffic to work approx. 8miles one way)
all reported with 91 octane
