... and I hope someone will figure it out for non-NAV/ML unit Its easy to change and to reload your firmware with DVDR when you got NAV. Not sure how the upgrade without NAV is possible?

Just waiting for exact instructions on an '07 GS w/ML, etc since I read that there are differences.

Anyone with instructions, pls let us know. If you know of someone in Chicago area that can do it, that would be helpful too.....

My buddy and I did the work, took about 45 min. Soldered and shrink wrapped the wires.
Didn't have the heat gun so we quick torched it

DVD bypass refers to modifying the car such that a GS equipped with ML can play a DVD anytime, without having the transmission in park and the emergency brake engaged. Basically, guests in your car can watch a DVD while you're driving down the road.

The term "Nav" bypass is a little misleading, but here's what its referring to. In a Nav equipped GS, as soon as your speed reaches something like 5-10 MPH, certain features (i.e., buttons on the LCD screen) in your Nav, audio, and other menu options become disabled (e.g., they are greyed out so you can't select/use them). For example, w/out the mod the guest in your car can't use the Nav system to find an address to navigate to when the car is moving. With the mod, the features that are greyed out when the car is moving are available to use.

To read more about how to perform these mods, check out the Tips, Tricks, DIY thread or the various other threads related to the DVD or Nav Bypass subject.

Thanks for your excellent explanation. Maybe I'll consider this mod..

Since I don't have NAV/ML, I did my own snipping (purple wire from K46) to mod BT bypass and to enable file/folder view of mp3s while driving. This mod works for '06 as well as '07 GSs.
