Default Dunlop run flat tires on GS 350 AWD

For any of you that have Dunlop run flat on your GS's, how do you like them and have you had any problems with them?

The reason I ask is that I am seriously considering buying a GS 350 AWD. I have test driven two of them now and am pretty much sold on the car. I did notice that the car's ride seemed a little jittery on the freeway. The salesman suggested it might be the extra stiffness of the run flat tires. I have also read in other forums that people have had problems with run flat tires in general.

Thanks,

Bill B

No complains here. Very good grip with a road. Also, I don't hear too much of a road noise. I haven't experienced any jittery performance on freeway, but that is a relative term to what other tires on the same car you can compare it to. Can you please let us know what problems with run flats have you read about? Now, I'm curious to find out myself.

There is a big stink about premature and abnormal wear, not to mention fires and explosions, of run flats on Toyota AWD Sienna minivans that caused a class action law suit to be filed last year against Toyota and Dunlop. Here are links to 2 news articles and 11 pages of discussion from the automotive.com forum. I find it odd that only the Sienna appears to be implicated. Hopefully that means the high performance tires on the GS don't have the same problems, though I note Lexus lets you know up front that the performance tires on their cars wear faster than normal:

When I asked about the run flats on my GS350 as an option (vs the 18" summer tires), my salesperson was quick to tell me I did not want them on my car. However, he did not explain why, nor did I ask after his emphatic remark. Figured that whatever tires I got would be shot within 20k miles anyway... really wouldn't matter.

i only have 2800k miles on my GS and and have no complaints with my dunlops. There is no unusal road noise and tire grip is very good. There was a sticker on the window stating the dunlops have a tire life of about 20k maybe less. When the time comes to replace my tires i will research what other run flats are available. overall I'm satisfied with them.
