Noise of GS engine when parked
Haven't noticed that until my wife pointed out while approaching the car from outside. I was parked and had engine on. She said that engine sounds loud for a parked car. I got out, and did confirmed that. Relatively speaking to my previous ES350 or other cars I heard with engine on when parked, the engine level noise coming from under the hood sounds kind of loud.
Anybody else noticed that? Of course, engine noise is a relative term to what car you comparing it with. I want to make sure this is a common with GS and not some sort of a problem that I might experience? BTW, I have no complains when sitting inside of the car, very good sound isolation IMHO.

I test drove the 2007 GS350 and the ticking noise is still there!!!! I asked the salesperson and he said..."Oh....that's because the car is not warmed up yet". Full of crap!

Are you talking about something like a diesel noise tapping? I do not hear it with my car, cold or warm. I was just refering to a general loud operating noise of the engine. For example, ES350 is much quieter. And, I heard from others that with LS you can't even hear if the engine is on

That's the biggest overall complaint that I have about the car. Now that it's winter and I have the windows up it is much less noticeable, but in the warmer months with the windows down I hear it pretty well. Just one of those things I guess.

I will listen closer, probably will have to roll windows down because inside the sound get isolated pretty good. When you mentioned before "the noise is still there", I assume this is in comparison to GS300? Therefore its probably part of the design since GS350 got a new engine.

Hope Lexus...fixes this on their 2008 model!

I'm confused, I can't even hear my car when idle. It's as if it's not even on.
Oh wait, I'm running the 450h. H Y B R I D
Quiet Quiet Quiet. Easy to sneak up on people in a parking lot. Only noise is the tires hitting the pavement.

Twister...listen to the wife and at least ask it be verified as normal at a service appointment down the road. She might be right, or it is normal, either way, getting it verified as either is not a bad thing.

Well here you are.....you spent close to $50k with a noisy engine that ticks.
That's unacceptable. I wouldn't buy it. Eventhough, they say it is normal...that ain't normal to me. Perhaps, they should off named Diesel 350?
