No, the VIAS units do not require OEM XM option. In fact, VIAS has units that
hook up to XM or Sirius receivers as well.... read their site for details: vaistech.com

Kuch, thanks for the great writeup and pics. Just did a SL2i-UP in my 08 350 w/nav. Your pics and descriptions were really helpful. Lovin' the menu-driven interface! This is what good integration should be.

BTW, for those of you with 3gen GS and 5gen nav, the harness plug is in the same place as Kuch's writeup.

I installed the Vais SL2i-Up and Prestigious Society Nav/DVD/BT bypass this past weekend. Thanks for the write up, it helped out allot and made it go very smooth.

Now she wants new wheels, and I'm thinking of doing the fog lights, maybe changing out the front grill and adding a body kit.

This is a nice write-up. I just purchased a 2007 GS350 last night (pics to come), and I'm looking forward to installing this in my GS. I upgraded from a 2nd Gen GS!!!!

Thank you so much, looking into getting this while putting in my prestigious society piece, great idea of taking off console first to get under the tape player piece as not to scratch.

Ron,

I live in Louisville. Where did you buy your VAIS unit?
