Default headlamp washer,disbling how?

I saw the IS forum to disable the headlamp washer. is it the same for the GS? I cant check right now as I'm at work.
I cant stand teh washer. It goes on at night when I clean my windshield. Messes up my hood.

what, you mean there's no separate switch for the headlight washers? glad i didn't get that option then 2thfixr, you have a separate switch for them in the 911 don't you? I know the Boxster does..

i never really saw the purpose for them anyway.. i mean, whats the point? i can't even get bugs of with the hoze full blast let alone a squirt gun.. and i really don't like the idea of windshield washer fluid all over my hood ! if your headlights are that dirty, it's time to wash the car

there is a switch. BUT at night, if your lights are on and you clean your winshield, it'll AUTO squirt water on your lights.
Makes no sense. This ranks somewhere about the same as the power folding mirrors that don't fold/unfold when you lock your car. Or windows that open from your remote but won't CLOSE with the remote. Dumb dumb.

Agreed... completely worthless feature. If someone could figure out how to disable it I'd be super

I'm sure you could probably just find the wires to the pumps for them and disconnect them..

It was a law that was passed a few years back (after the intro of HID's) that states that to equip a vehicle with HID's you must include Auto-Leveling or lamp washers (either one or both). It's to prevent from "dazzling" the oncoming driver. But, I'm with you guys... it only makes a mess.

There is one fuse that ties directly to the headlamp cleaner motor. It is located in the engine compartment, in the black box right behind the washer filler cap, snug against the passenger side fender.

Pop the lid, and among the fuses and relays there is one and only one 30A fusible link. It is larger than the normal fuses. The diagram in the cover shows it as H-LP CLN. Takes a bit of wiggling to pull it out. That should kill the operation of the headlight washers. I taped the link to the lid with some duct tape in case I want to put it back in later.

Wow, I had to check my manual for that one. I never realized that button existed! I have never used the headlight washers in the Porsche because the car is always clean and I keep the top down most of the time. It doesn't feel too nice to get a windshield washer fluid shower. On a similar note, it took me a year to figure out how to use the multi-function steering wheel to change cd/mp3 tracks. I guess it's time to RTFM.

Jeez, all that trouble just to avoid getting water on your hood...if you pull the lever to wash your windshield you're gonna get water on the roof anyway!

There was a time, once, at night, when I wanted to wash the windshield and keep that perfectly formed dust layer on my hood untouched...here's what I did:

left hand: switch off the lights
right hand: pull the washer lever
left hand: switch the lights on again
Time to complete: 1 second

I'm not sure about disconnecting the fuse - what if it gets muddy 'cause of the rain?

Psssh... it's washer fluid any way. Unless you guys put water in there, it really isn't much of a problem.
Plus, you get to see the cool shadow it makes on the ground. Well... I guess you shouldn't stare too long...

Aww slag. The GS430 has the headlamp cleaner on a seperate fuse. The GS350 has it on the same line as the A/C compressor. doh.
