Default GS ML system and DVD-Audios

Nobody seems to carry DVD-audio discs locally so I was thinking. Would a regular DVD video sound as good? Maybe a concert disc?

I don't think DVD video's will be recognized in the ML unless you can covert it somehow. Your best bet is to buy some DVD-As online.

Julez....
All I have to say is "WHAT?" DVD videos play while parked as
standard on the GS with ML. You can perform the "hack" and
watch them while driving as well.

2thfixr...
DVD videos play just fine in the ML system. I think you are
confusing the sound quality of a DVD video with the quality
of a DVD-A disc. They are not the same. DVD video audio
can be just regular stereo, DTS, or Dolby Digital 5.1. There
are several different type of audio recording types and they
happen to be on a DVD type of storage disc. Just for
comparison... you can have audio on a Compact Disc that is
regular stereo, DTS, or Dolby Digital 5.1.

So to answer your question (would DVD video sound as good?)
That can only be answered by you. IMHO... A DVD recorded
in DTS or Dolby Digital 5.1 sound AMAZING. Much better then
a regular stereo recorded DVD or CD.

www.cduniverse.com has the most selection I have found. or for the DVD-A link http://www.cduniverse.com/browsecat....cart=463841998

Just do a DVD-A search, by either ALL, or new releases. There's a few for you I am sure.
Not a ton, but a few.

try www.acousticsounds.com, also. they have a huge selection, even though it can be tough to find exactly what disc you want if it's paired with a CD or DVD video

Just ordered Crowded House, I hear it's an excellent demo disc for the DVD-Audio system. I'm pretty disappointed with the imaging in the ML system with regular CDs so I am hoping that a DVD-audio disc will help me see the light.

I have been playing Phantom of the Opera (the recent release st. Emmy Rossum) on my system and it plays in DTS surround - I have to say it's pretty darn impressive .

I can switch tracks using the steering wheel buttons and when i'm stuck in traffic all I have to do is feather the parking brake (even with the car in drive) and the screen shows the movie - very cool!

That's exactly the reason why I wanted to try out a DVD-audio disc. Whenever I watch regular video DVDs in the car, it sounds really impressive when music comes into a scene. I'm hoping that a DVD-audio disc will be that much better. I can't wait to hear it!

The best sound I have experienced with ML system is a DVD video with 5.1surrond sound. It is amazing. You will never want go back to CD. I tried Pink Floyds "Pluse" dvd in my car to test my ML dvd player and it has stayed there since 5 months ago. For the first time I heard sound coming from all the speakers. Even picture quality and color is better than my sony LCD tv. IMO, ML system is best with DVD 5.1 surround sound sytem.

Yes, absolutely! The audio portion of a standard DVD video disc sounds great on the ML. Instead of buying DVD-audio discs, I was thinking about just getting some concert DVDs because the imaging is so much better with surround sound recordings. Hopefully I won't be too impressed with the DVD-audio disc that I ordered.

Make sure turn up the volume to at least 30. You"ll feel like you are in a front row of a live concert while you are in a middle of freeway surrounded with tens of cars. All you hear are the sounds that are coming from the speakers. You feel completely isolated from outside noise.

30? I usually listen with the volume set at 45-50.
