Hi All!
I've browsed thu the forums and found very informative topics on the HID lamps. But just wanted to know what brands did you guys get?
I was told that Philips does not make 6000k D4S/R lamps and the only company making them are GE and PIAA.
Also, please let me know how much you got your lamps for and where..
I wanted to get that bluish look. I saw someone selling it on ebay, but his is D4C and he says its compatible with our GS D4S base.
Anyone care to clarify? I know what i want... just want to make sure it is the right one and how much it cost. Thanks.

I do not know what year lexus you drive, but if you are looking for D4S I can right off hand tell you that it has to be newer than 05+
D4S/D4R just came out, they are the newest technology when it comes to xenons, it will take a while for aftermarket manufacturers to jump on the train, as those parts arent very popular yet, being so new.
also D4C as people call it there are also D2C it means the seller has bulbs that will fit D4S/D4R or D2S/D2R in other words will fit both applications, which really does not make any sense because "R" bulbs are for HID reflector housings in which the bulb needs these speacil ceramic paint strips on the glass, while "S" series bulbs do not, because they are for projector applications. So while the bulb will "fit" for both applications they cant be properly used for both.
So to answer your question YES D4C should fit your D4S, just make sure that it is not a rebased D4R bulb (look for the ceramic paint) on the glass of the bulb, if it is a rebased D4S bulb, you are ok.
If I were you I would wait, because all HID bulbs go up in temperature over time, and use (while they do loose brightness) you do gain color. Thats why some people drive with their lights on, on purpose is to make their bulbs age so that they get more color.

correct no ds4's from xenon depot or most others, but they are out there.... there are some companies that sell them for about 200+ a pair I think. They are reputable brands so no real need to worry; just look around.

Oh btw, its AMAZING how many places uses these EXACT words when selling the bulbs-
"The new D4S HID and D4R HID also have a crispier, more bluish / white color (4800K vs. 4100K/4250K) without sacrificing the essential lighting power at all. You still get +600lm more / bulb than with the original D2S or D2R even with the white color many of us desire and search for."
Except depending where you look, they replace the 4800k with 6000k and even 4500k but the exact wording for everything else. Which makes it hard for me to buy the bulbs as I dont know what the true k is.

makes me nervous as well star.
You never know the brand and the company you are buying from or the true life of those bulbs they are selling.
Best to just ask those that have purchased from a specific place and ask them how they are and look and how long they've had them.
MKIM, do you mind elaborating on those 6500K DS4's you purchased?
The part number the purchase price the life of the bulbs so far, how they look, and possibly a picture at night with lights on a white garage door?

I have already posted asking this in the LS460 with no luck. Does anyone here in the GS forum know if the LS460 uses the same D4S bulbs you guys are installing in your new Lexuses? I just got mine recently. Also, is it difficult to get access to your HID housing? I read my manual and it says I have to remove a bunch of crap (windshield wiper fluid tank, fuse boxes, etc.) just to get access to them. Thanks.
