Default New Tires

How long should I wait (miles) before I change my original Dunlop's? And what should I replace them with?

I waited three days to replace the Dunlop run-flat crap.

LOL..

If you don't mind the run-flats, change out your tires when you see the tire tread getting low.

I'm changing my Dunlop run-flats sometime in the next week. They have approx. 1,100 miles on them.

p34m23,
I was thinking about changing the tires too when I first got the car. But now I've decided to wear them down and replace them. I know many people here who are leasing their cars that they replace the run flats with regular tires right away, and then planning to put the run flats back on at the end of the lease. If you are not leasing your car, I'd just wear them down. And yes, these run flats wear quick!!
I would look into: 1)Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position or 2)Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

I'm leasing the car and I didn't keep the crappy run flats. You know why? Because it's going to cost me a LOT of money to put them back. Run-flats are a pain to take off and put on the car.

I sold my run-flats on Craigs List for $400. If, when I need to return the car at the end of lease, the tread is too low, I'll buy any crappy tires with more than 50% of tread left on E-bay. It should cost me well below the $400 I got for the run-flats.

There are plenty of tires you can get in this size. For all-season (which is what you should have in Virginia, unless you plan to use separate winter tires) many people swear by Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I was going to get these, but saw on the Tire Rack that Continental ContiExtremeContact tie the Pilot Sport A/S for the 2nd place in the category. They cost 60% less than the Michelins. I put them on my car and so far I'm very happy.

Since the car comes with a jack and spare, I doubt they even care if you turn in a GS lease without run flats.

With BMW's, they care because the lugnuts removed the spare and jack.

Actually, not every GS with run flats has a spare.

Regardless, you can turn it in with regular tires. Before I sold the run-flats I spoke to a person at the local Lexus dealership who deals with lease returns. He said they don't care.

Dump the Dunlops. My dealer replaced my Dunlops as a courtesy with Michelin pilot sports due to excessive noise, it doesn't hurt to complain. What a difference!!

Excessive noise? Are we talking about the same tires? My Dunlop Sport 5000 run-flat all-season tires were awfully harsh on rough pavement or potholes, but they were as quiet as a mouse. The replacement tires are actually noisier than the Dunlops.

GS350 rwd with noisy Dunlops, not run flat. The Michelin tires are as different as night and day. Has anybody else had a dealer change tires as a courtesy?

nope, still have the RunFlat Dunlops that came with the car. In my mind, not bad at all with noise..... Granted that's all I hear in the car, as I don't hear the engine 90% of the time. So I guess if I had to complain, I hear road and wind noise in my 99% sound proof car.
