Default Cold Start Brake Noise

I've done a search, but I didn't exactly find this topic. When I started to back out of the garage this morning, it sounded like the bottom of my car was dragging on the ground when I would use the brake. Literally like the bottom of my car had dropped - metal scraping cement. I pulled back into the garage and got on my hands and knees to look under the car. Saw nothing. Backed up again, and the same noise happened. The noise continued every time I would brake until I got to the main road (about 3 min.).

Hear clunk noise when backing, but that is normal brake adjustmet. Did your car get wet the night before? Rotors will rust up if they get wet and until that rubs off, you can hear a rubbing noise. Notice this after a wash.

Thanks for your replies, folks. I can truly only describe the sound as being as though my car was dragging a large metal trashcan. Like I said, it was so startling, that I got out and looked under the car (for what, I'm not sure ). The only time I ever heard this before was when the brakes were shot on my ES. Every time I hit those, it was the same loud metal dragging on concrete sound.

Default Check your breaks...Something might be stuck in there

I had the same noise last night.. It was coming from my front passager side. So I took off the wheel to find a rock stuck between the rotor cover and the rotor.. so everytime I moved the car forward.. it would make a grinding sound. I took a screwdriver and removed the stone. Now.. no more sound...Hope this will help you

Good point. I had this happen on my old Z28. It sounded like the warning bar grinding. It polished the rock good.

Same thing happened to me. Took my whip to the dealer and they removed the rock. The tech said that it's been a common problem for GS owners...but who knows...he looked blazed...anyways...it was a quick fix!

If the noise goes away after a few min of driving, it could be that the rotors had ice on them.
