Why is Lexus so quiet about the GS 460
Why is Lexus so quiet about the GS 460. I have google it ask guys down at Lexus asked Mike but me personally I can't find nothing. Lexus have been talking about other 2008 such as the IS-F the 600h but not the GS 460. I'm a HUGE GS fan but It's killing me not knowing nothing about the car.

Because there's probably not going to be a GS460. I bet they are gonna keep the 350 + 450h, and maybe introduce a GS-F for those with deep pockets. Plus the current GS seems to be a failure in terms of sales, so they might do an early redesign.

Naw man what kind of sense would that make not having a V-8 in a GS. IMO I think it's going to be totally different with the new engine. I think it is going to have over 390 hp with 0-60 sub 5 sec. range with some knew tech stuff.

isnt it the 3rd best selling vehicle in its class?

It is the 3rd best selling in class, the last 2 years, with no wagons, no AWD on V-8 and no entry level engine like the 525 so it is selling well and hitting sales targets.
Lexus is mum b/c they have A LOT going on, the IS-F, LF-A, LS 600h L, so the GS 460 got pushed back to fall, when things are a little more quiet.
No sense pumping up the GS now when those other Lexus cars have pumped up the brand.

COMPLETE speculation here..... but...
Toyota has heard the public and the public was not thrilled with the 3rd gen GS like they were with the 2nd gen. Something tells me that the GS460 WILL have a sports package and will make a serious attempt at becoming a drivers car. This probably set it back a year or so however.....

460 exclusivity to the LS for now...
Lexus is keeping quiet about the GS460 because they wanted to give their flagship the first taste of this new engine. Give the LS460 a year to brew, then introduce the next family member to accessorize with the flagship engine.
If the LS460 has 380 hp, a properly tuned GS460 may be capable of 400+ hp (like that of the ~260 hp ES350 and a properly tuned 300+ hp IS350).
Also, if the LS460 is the grand cruiser, I would love to see a more performance-tuned GS460. We're all awaiting how Lexus will address this issue to be more competitive to its European counterparts.
I have a feeling that the GS460 will be a sleeper. It seems that the '07 GS350 (with it's performance upgrades compared to the '06) is still lack-luster in performance when side by side with its competitors, and will not attact a lot of prospective buyers from "the other side"...

I may be tempted by this car in a few years if it comes in AWD
form. It would be even better if it came with a factory aero kit
that is better and more aggressive than the current JDM one and
a set of 19'' wheels. Maybe this would be too good to be true

Perhaps lexus is attempting to get it right the 3rd time around. Lexus needs to dissect a 5 series Bimmer, and study the chassis & suspension dynamics..& develop a formula to meet or exceed their rival. Get the balance, handeling, & total driving feel right and Lexus may have a new enthusiasts choice in a 4 door sport saloon.
