Default GS/IS Oil leak TSB

Read it and weep, Lexus has released the rumored oil leak TSB. I noticed some oil on the front of my motor during the last oil change, thought I was just imagining things. This is like my third major issue with this car, I am starting to get P*SSED!!!

i could be wrong, but if you call before going in, they should have the tsb in their books? its not up to us to find the tsb, they shoud notify us if we hav ethe issue. Not saying they will, but they should.

I wouldn't really worry about it unless you see oil on the floor. From what I have heard is it is a very small leak. Honestly I own a 06 GS and if I had this problem happen I would just ignore it unless it was dripping. Keep in mind no one is going to contact you. This is a TSB not recall. I would say you will see one soon for the GS350 and ES350. I don't understand what production change was made because I know of a few GS350 that have had this problem. But if you look at the vin this is bascially all gs's execpt if you bought them after July of 06 production. I think you shouldn't get to worried about this it is a very slight issue that only a few customers have. The one I am worried about is how the car runs so rich and how they have been seeing that catylist convertors going already on cars with under 20,000 miles and also the leaking strut issue which they are trying to say it's normal for some of them to leak. THAT IS UNNORMAL and if you strut leaks make sure you smear all over the strut because they have a chart that they go by before they will replace it. I will let you know if I hear anything eles

Even if it is a small oil leak, at least you can bring it in and have it fixed. As a bonus, get a free oil change!

It is no simple fix. The whole engine has to be pulled out og the car. However some dealerships do it by removing the whole front end. This is a 20 hour job and I think the TSB has it for 15 hours. This is a huge job. If it happened to me I think I would just trade the car in. You would be better off then having the car ripped apart. If it is leased then you have no choice. But my thing is the oil doesn't pour out so if you do lease it. I would just let it be and put a towel on the floor. Trust me this fix is a huge job. The head gasket must be replaced.

Does this leak get oil on the timing belt?
And from what I can tell, Lexus service is not in the engine rebuilding business, so don’t think they have the skill set at this time.

On the TSB, what does the asterisk mean in the effective VIN range? Thanks.

My question is does anyone with a GS even have this problem in this forum. FOr example in the ES and IS forum there are a few memebers who had this problem. Any GS memebers with it???? I don't think it's that common reasoning being look how long it took them to release a TSB the VIn number range is bascially the whole production of the GS300. So it must have took a long time for this to surface at all. Also think of it this way that TSB effects roughly 28,000 cars and this is not including the ES which has this problemm also. My point is thats a lot of cars and for us just to see a few then this problem isn't that big. FOr example look at the ES tranny problem you saw so many members with this problem. I think if this oil leak was wide spread it would appear a lot more. I don't think 1 GS memeber on this forum ever reported and oil leak like this. I know it does exist on the GS because thats how I first heard of this problem. But even on the IS board there is only about 2 memebers with this problem. Want I am saying is there is no need to worry and if there was a reason to worry they would have issued the TSB a long time ago and not 28,000 cars later.
