POI such as gas stations, that have the telephone number in the address can be called while the car is moving. I would like to see XM navigation on future models.

What do you mean? If you look up a POI, both the address and phone number are listed. If you know the phone number, you can use it as a method to find the destination.

Wow! Can't complain about this NAVI system. I've seen the NAV's in Japan and they are absolutely awesome compared to ours now. There's had 3D graphics with buildings in 3D showing the heights of the buildings and all. I remember seeing the Mercedes NAVI and they were pretty lame with sticks all over the place.

I recently upgraded from Gen 4 to Gen 5 - while they both have pretty much the same functionality, the resolution of Gen 5 is so much higher and I've also noticed that the Gen 5 is more accurate when positioning the car.

Although i've never used it I'm pretty sure both version allow you to search by phone number...just a sec - car's outside, let me check...yup it does! There are 2 screens when you press the Dest button - it's on the second screen.

I agree that the lo-res display on the GS is disappointing, especially since the '06 IS got the new Gen 5 nav when launched half a year later.

But when did you buy your GS? If it was after the Gen 5 nav was released, no one to blame but yourself. You should have waited for a '07 GS.

XM Nav Traffic is coming soon to future models from what I understand. I can't wait to get this on my new GS, might have to a wait a bit, worth it though.

And then when a friend of mine got an is250 with navi, it got me bummed out cuz he had a better navi system.

Default 2006 GS300 Gen 4 to Gen 5 Upgrade

What would it take to upgrade my 2009 Gen 4 navigation system to Gen 5? The stereo is Mark Lenvinson if that matters.

Too expensive to upgrade. Better to sell and but another car.

While it is poor, the 2006 gs300 is a 6 year old $20k car. So my expectations would be low.

If you want good tech at that price buy a KIA.

Also Lexus tech has always been poor. Even the 2011 Nav is the most primitive on the market. You get a better nav in a Ford Focus than in a 60k 2011 GS460.
