Default GS350 AWD or stay w/ GS400?

I have a 2000 GS400 w/ SRT Intake/ECU and steering chp plus L-tuned suspension. Like the car a lot but its not good at all on slick surfaces. New rain, snow or ice is hard with the RWD.

I looked at and drove a GS350 RWD (dealer did not have any AWD cars) and I liked a lot of the new techno features and from what I have read the AWD works good. The new 350 motor feels great. Not quite the punch of the 400 w/ mods but OK.

What I don't like is the reduced head room for driver and front/rear passengers and and there appears to be less leg room in back seat. The trunk appears to be maybe a little smaller too.

Any one made this change? And do they notice these issues? Or am I being to picky?

Alternatively, I am looking at the Infiniti M35x or the Audi A6 4.2Q.

Any comments or suggestions.

Wait, its new and let them get the bugs out. Enjoy the GS400 and if no bugs buy a used 07 at half the price. My .02

How many miles are on your gs400?

I am like you...had a 2000 GS400 with SRT Intake, etc...I truly loved the car and miss the mods I had, but missed all the tech features built in...didn't like my wife making fun of me with "my ghetto, suoped up ride...around dash I had a phone on a cradle attached, XM Roady, and everything else. I had 131K on it so I tested the waters and sold it within a week and got full retail price with the mods on it. SO, I went and bought the 06 GS430. My multi state search netted a matador red with 7300 miles on it...got it for 72% of MSRP $58900. Well worth buying it for that amount with 7300 lady driven miles. I then shipped it down to Jacksonville on as semi. Love the new color. The 6 speed is very smooth. The technology is worth buying it now including all the safety features that the car has. There are good buys for that car out there online...the only drawback is that my wife has the new 06 IS250 with NAV version 6.1....WAY better than the version 5.1 in my car. Just pisses me off that the graphics are that much superior on the 6.1....OH WELL...love everything else about it, especially the V8 engine.

Don't care for the Infinity line or Audi. Although good cars.
Best of luck, but go for it now...sell your car while its still has value and not becomes WHOLESALED

Your point is accurate...I'm 6'3 and still have plenty of room though...I did notice that I feel the drivers seat won't go down as much as the 2000gs. The trunk is tighter and the backseat a little tight. What I realized was that rarely do I have guest in the back and rarely do I travel in that car...if I do, I just put some of the luggage in the back seat just like I did in my gs400...so who really cares about friends in the back...I'll just make them drive their SUV...haha

I only have 53k miles on the car.
Great shape, Platinum version w/ 16" Platinum-version wheels.

I have a modified MazdaSpeed Miata that I drive a lot when I can and I drive a Toyota Sienna AWD van in ice/snow. It's a company car. So I don't put a lot of miles on any one car.

Looked at M35 again tonight and I just can't get excited about it. Except for smallish size, I like the G35 better. The Audi A6 is nice (w/ 4.2). The S6 w/ a V10 might be awesome.

I may just keep the GS400 and trade the Miata in for a Z06 next year. Wow, that would be a big change. Saw one at the same car show tonight.
