Never had a clear bra. Never had a car that got a chip on the portion of the hood that would've been protected with one. Never had a chip anywhere on the hood bad enough to warrant spending any money on that kind of protection. My personal perception on this type of product is that they are in the same category of usefulness as "rust proofing" and "paint protectants".

i think to do all of mine, if I wouldn't have got some of it for free b/c of the whole license plat holes problem I had, it would have been about 625 for the whole car... (the normal parts, front bumper, mirrors, pilars, handles, lenses, back fender, )
The 3m aero, which is what I had put on mine. I didn't think the 3m for auto would be good enough for my taste.
But it is a life saver. Would do it to ever car I ever own.
I had a black car without it... after a few years, it looked all white chipped and terrible, did the same to another black a few years later, and damn, it stayed looking perfect till I sold it.
Definetly worth it in my mind.
In my mind I am not going to spend almost 70K on a car, then not do a $600 option of 3M or whatever to protect my vehicle.
If I cared about wasting $600, maybe I shouldn't have bought the almost 70K in the first place....

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. I guess there are no trucks running around VA area.
The clear bra works great for me. Not only it makes it easy to wash bugs off the fender/hood, no stone chips anywhere! Bobby, if you ever get it installed, you can thank me later if you get a stone flying toward you.
There are people wash their cars on a weekly basis, and routinely wax their cars. There are also people who, once is a great while, run the car through automatic car washes, when they feel like it. It all depends on what you feel like doing.
I am not leasing the car and I do like to keep it clean. And that's just me!

Clear bar is definitely worth it. $550 seems like a great price for peace of mind. I'm guessing that covers the bumper, fenders and hood, probably a pre-cut kit. The guys who did my last car charged $500 for a custom bumper wrap that would cover the entire bumper. I passed on the full bumper wrap but was satisfied with the fenders, lights and hood.

Of course, color plays a huge role. I never buy cars that show dirt much. My GS is silver - the best color to conceal any imperfections.

I have 3m and installed it myself. Everything but the bumper is not too hard to do if you do your research. The clear bra does work. To bad it does not protect the windshield. Mine has been on over a year. Hard to tell, but it may be yellowing a tad. More time will tell for sure. Got the material for around $200.

I think $550 is very good price. I got it done free since my friend own the shop. It took him about 1/2 a day. He did a good job. Get it it's worth it!!! but make sure you should wax it more often, that's what my friend told me to do if you want to keep it clean. Also, from my experience don't rub it too hard because it'll scrach it.
