Smile DEAL OR NO DEAL? 1st time car buyer :P

Hi all

I am buying a new 2007 GS350 RWD with navigation and 18" wheels. The color is Smokey Grey Granite with black interior. The MSRP is $48,977. I've been emailing around and the best deal I have so far is the following:

MSRP: $48,977
Selling Price $44,453.00
Out the Door Price: $48,315

Is this a deal or no deal? I'm a girl and I just don't want them to take advantage in any way :P Let me know what you guys think!! Thanks!!! EXCITED!

They only want to give you $650 off with cash/out the door..wow..i know i wouldnt . If your buying out the door from them(you might be getting a loan from your bank) i would ask for 40...42 out the door...Thats if your comming with str8 cash to them.

Hi cjones

I don't know if I read your reply wrong.
The MSRP on the car is: $48,977
They want to sell it to me for $44,453.00
After title, tax (7.75%) and license fees, the total would be $48,315

was this what you thought i meant :P ? thanks a bunch!!

ohhhhhh shoot..ok i thought you was giving 3 diff prices...im sorry...where im from...out the door means cash in hand..but then again arond here you give them $9000 one month another 9 the month after that and so on...they crooked as hell..and thats a real dealership(just to get around taxes)!!!! lol sorry guys..(i need to lay off the abslolute!!) i see what ur saying now

thats a deal

by the way - cash in hand doesnt mean you get a better deal - this is a myth from the old days. dealer actually can make more $$$ if you finance it so paying cash actually hurts the dealer, so dont try to use this to your advantage - its not.

These days the opposite is true: you get a better deal by financing or leasing the car because dealers get kickback from the finance companies that is pure profit for them.

Looks pretty good to me, but then I'm not one to hold out for the last nickel in negotiating.

I'll also chime in and say $44.4 is a GREAT deal (for SoCal) excluding TT&L. Go for it (especially if the car is on the lot).

I agree it is a good deal -- you could probably get another $500 if you push, no guarantee you would get it. I have seen (and just gotten) 5K off sticker for the same car, which is only about 500 better, in Norcal. But availability, etc., could affect that. I'd say give it a try for another 500, then go for it either way.

I am getting a similarly priced car and will pick it up this Thursday.

My car is identically priced and looks like you made a better deal than I did.

The car is priced at $48,977 and I am getting it for $45,133.
I don't know what the additional charges are in your deal. My out the door price is slightly lower than yours, $47,725. It might be your sales tax is higher, but it looks to me you are getting a pretty good deal.

Just watch out for the Finance guy, he will try to get you with some items that you may or may not want/need. Such things as pinstripes, dent insurance, wheel&tire insurance, glass tinting, etc. Each dealer is different and some of these items may not apply to yours.

As for getting a better deal by paying cash...well, that's the way it used to be in the old, old days. Now, they have their own finance companies, such as GMAC, etc. and they are a huge money making arm of the car companies. For the record, I am paying cash for my car.

When are you getting your car? I know you will enjoy it. Post a foto of it if you have the time to do so.

Hugh
