I was thinking the same thing but just didn't want to say anything. I have never pushed that button by accident either.

To the truth:
I like to cycle through the display on the instrument panel that shows gas mileage, range, etc while I am driving as I am determined to get the 25 mpg that is on my window sticker and when I am not actually looking at the steering wheel I always hit that stupid voice button and have to cancel it out...not a big deal, just a pain in the ***.
As far is it working: I have an 06-gs430 and it is a joke although it is fun to actaully try to use it and see how it interprets the command.

GS350 vs 430 (i owned both)
So when I sold the 430 back to Lexus, I had to choose either to replace it, move to the 450H, buy another brand -- or get the 350 (which wasn't of course available when I bought by 2006 430 in late 05).
Bottom line: It was a no-brainer. For 5-6000 less, I get a car equally fast, lighter and somehow peppier, and tighter. And WAY better gas mileage - highway mileage on the 350 and 450h are within 1 mpg of each other.
What did I lose/what do I miss? 1. The slightly better purr and smoothness of a V8. 2. The variable steering and switchable suspension. That's it. For 6000 less and 50 percent better gas mileage, it was a simple decision. And for me, the non-variable steering feels somehow tighter, better roadfeel, more authentic.
And of course by going from an 06 to an 07 I get the better Nav.

I read just the other day that the GS430 has some anti-crosswind thing in the variable steering setup. I drove through some nasty crosswinds the other day and wish I had it. Thanks for the review. Sorry about jacking the original poster's thread. Now back to the regularly scheduled program....
