Alternatives to GS350
I'm starting to get sad/desperate. Been over three weeks now on my GS350 and still no word from the dealer on when one will even be available.
That being said, I think I need a backup plan. What car would you guys get other then the GS350? I honestly dont want anything else but Im not sure how much longer I can go without a car.

i personally like the ES350. its a great car that is larger than the GS (believe it or not) and has adequate power at 272hp.
if you dont want to say in the lexus line-up, your really only other choices are the bmw 5 series, mercedes E class, or the M35 from infiniti. Probably the M35 will fit best with the GS in price and options.

You other guys that waited, was there ever a point where the dealer told you a date it was coming? Since he is a Master you would think he could at least tell me when its due in or something. I wouldnt mind waiting another month or so if i had a concrete date.

M35 - Nice car. I considered a '06 M45 before choosing my GS430. Not crazy about the interior, but love the performance. By far, the best bang for the buck.
530 - I've only driven a 545/550, but also a very nice car. If you're going to lease, you can probably get a great deal. Free maintenance is also a big plus.

What if you choose a different exterior/interior combo, and go between NAV/non-NAV and ML/non-ML packages? I'm sure your specific selection of color and options could have something to do with them not being able to tell you when its coming. I know when you put so much money into the car, you want it exactly how you like. But at this point with such a limited stock, beggers can't be choosers.
As for the other cars, a number of people had nice thing to say about Acura RL and you can get a very good deal on those since they are a very sloooow sellers. With Infiniti, I found M35 to be a huge floaty boat with more of a luxury guts rather than performance luxury like GS. The new G35 is very nice and probably the best value on the market right now. In performance it should be compatible to IS350 with its 306hp V6, and it has a typical "German" tight steering; you can get a fully loaded one for about $35k. Oh, and stay away from ES350...

I test drove the Infinity G35 (junk), Acura RL (just OK), Lexus ES & GS350 & Audi A6 ... The ES was a good value but not sporty enough ... It came down to the Audi A6 and the GS. The Audi guys would not budge on the price so I choose the GS.
I would do the internet thing. I sent out E-Mail requests of what I wanted to all the dealers within a reasonable range of my home and the offers came rolling in. Find a real agressive dealer who will ship a car in from another state if necessary !

Honestly, IMO, your best option is to just wait it out.
Granted, there are a lot of nice cars out there, but why spend your money on something that you will not feel completely satisfied with?
