Who needs a hybrid?
I drive to my office out of town once a week and the round trip drive is 300 miles. This is the only reason why the GS sits in my driveway and it's definitely my weapon of choice for this task. It sounds like a pain in the butt but it's actually a good opportunity for me to relax and think about things. It's also a good time for me to experiment with my cars. On my way out today, I noticed that my highway gas mileage was a gas guzzling 21 mpg. It's a very rural drive so I avg 85-90 mph. My personal best with my GS was 27.4 mpg on the drive home from the dealership the day that we bought the GS and the ES. My wife was driving the ES and she doesn't have the lead foot that I have so I just followed her home. We probably averaged 65 mph so I figured that I would set the cruise to 65 mph and see what would happen by the time I got to my office. With some uphill and downhill sections, I managed to pull up with an average of 26.3 mpg despite my initial average of 21 mpg on the tank. I bet I could squeeze 28-29 out of this thing! Let's see some of your personal bests!

I'm a new GS owner. Just bought an 06 300. One of the many pleasant surprises is the fuel economy. I don't know if the 300 is different than the 350 in this regard, but I got 30.2 mpg out of my first tank. I live in a rural area, so most of my driving is freeway. To go into town is about 15 miles without a stop sign or traffic light, usually averaging 50 - 60 mph. So far I'm averaging 31 mpg (according to the trip computer) on this second tank.
I'd be interested to know what others are seeing.

Well, on a partially downhill section of California Highway 58 from Tehachapi to Four Corners I got 32.4 mpg once. This past Monday, driving a non-stop 4 1/2 hour leg from Las Vegas to Lost Hills (I-5 at Hwy 46) en route to the Bay Area, I got 27.1 mpg while averaging 71 mph (more like 91 on I-15. )
Around town, though, I'm lucky to get 16 mpg. The GS350's 29 mpg highway estimate is pretty accurate if you stay near the speed limit, but I haven't found the 21 mpg city estimate to be accurate.

I got 19 in my 450h
can you tell/guess how I drive?
I raced the other day a CTS with the vette engine in it and did fairly wall. We were really just toying, not truly racing, but we were neck and neck.
Not comparing to a real vette engine that c6 would rape this car no questions asked. But normally I get about 25. Best was 29 when I tried had to granny it.

I am very impressed with the mileage i'm getting with the gs300,was thinking of trading it in for the 350 but i'm sure the extra 500cc has a drawback fuel economy wise. The main benefit of the 6spd trans in the gs is excellent gas mileage on highway cruise. At 100mph the tach reads like 3k rpm or somewhere real close to that.Drove from Phoenix to LA for the holidays and I kinda have a lead foot the car averaged 29mpg.This thing is awesome.I forgot what my avg.speed was but I cruised between 80-100 through the desert.

That STI sounds like fun! My brother had a 2006 STI and it was a blast to drive around, the best part IMO is the sound of the flat 4. I almost got one instead of the GS but the ride was a little too bumpy for a long distance commute car.

The ride on the sti is nasty compared to the gs,I installed the jdm factory springs and strut supports. The only positive is when you start throwing the car around. Its putting down 360whp and I'm lucky to get 200 miles before I have to fill up.The only way to get about 250 per tank is to make sure the boost gauge is on negative vacuum.

I wish I had open space ike you people. In Hawaii, there is noplace you can safely drive 90+mph. I drive on freeway about 65mph and every week I aveage around 16.5mpg. I WANT the 450h, I ust don't have money to shell out another $5-7k more than my car. For me, this was the most exspensive car I bought unlike some of you here.
If anybody here wants to trade his 450h for my 350, let me know. heh

We vacationed on the North Shore last June and I remember there were quite a few areas where traffic was moving 75+. No way anywhere near the city but coming into town from Haliewa, it was wide open. We are going back this year! Any good places to eat?
