Low dusting pads are on.
Picked up my car today and I can honestly say that there is very little change in braking performance. It bites hard like before but I do feel I need to give it a touch more braking pressure. IMO, that's because they are new pads that need to be worn in. The car stops hard and locks up with ABS kicking in just like normal. IMO, if a car can lock up all of it's wheels and ABS has to kick in, the brakes are more than sufficient. You don't need more stopping power than that and anymore would not be beneficial.
Drove around all day with zero brake dust!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did you ask or did you get to keep the original OEM set of 4??
I'm hesitant b/c the GM told me he did it to his and the new ones kinda squeek--- (he said it took about 4K miles for this to start happening) Just makes me nervous.

The way I look at it, I have 10k miles on the car and I will probably log another 10k before the summer is over. My understanding is that pads will last 20k at most on a GS so if I don't like them, I have nothing to lose. Worst case scenario, I will live with them for 10k and change the pads out like I would have anyways. All I know is that they feel fine and more importantly, there is no brake dust that I can see.

I may be wrong but I read that somewhere on CL. It doesn't sound out of line because I get about that with my wife's S500 brakes.

Robert, I'm drooling here over your 5-spoke Lex rims. I think I made up my mind about going from 17" to 18"
On a side note, where does this brake dust comes from? Is this the actual wear of the brake pads? If so, than wouldn't that directly relate to short lasting brake pads? So, can we assume that new dust-less brake pads will last longer?

The dust is from the material in the pad wearing. My guess is that low dusting pads have higher metallic content and less organic content. They should be a little less grabby and a more fade resistant than organic pads. I don't know about fade but they feel just as grabby. The drawback is that rotor wear will be greater but just how much greater remains to be seen. IMO, it's worth every penny and the savings in car washes will easily make up for the extra costs associated with rotor wear.
