Default Said Goodbye to my 06 GS430

I first want to thank everyone on this Forum for helping me so much with my GS. I remember how excited I was when I started reasearching the new GS in late 04 which was about the time I discovered Club Lexus. I must admit I got caught up in the excitement and anticipation for the new 06 GS. However I never quite enjoyed or appreciated my 06 GS as much as I did my 98 GS.

Like every other Lexus I have oned, my 06 GS was a wonderful car. Maybe the only problem I had was that I am pushing 50 and the GS was too sporty for my tastes. Part of it could be that everytime I see a new Camry and especially the new ES I see less and less of a difference (cosmetically) in my car over theirs.

So last Saturday I traded my GS in for an LS460L. I must admit that I have really enjoyed my first 1000 miles in this car. In my mind the $16K difference between my GS and LS460L is well worth it.

Thanks again for all your tips and tricks that allowed me to get much more enjoyment out of my GS that I would have otherwise.

Congrats on your new purchase. I still remember that post you made of the 2nd gen GS you traded in and the time you picked up the 3rd gen. Time does fly fast. What was the mileage on the 06 GS before you upgraded?

Congrats on the LS460, you can't go wrong with that car. Your trading in of the GS for the reason you gave directly supports the threat I started "Is there a problem with the 3gs" in which we figure out that alot of, no offense, elders, are trading in 3gses finding them a little too sporty than they first thought.

One question: how in the world do you put so many miles on your car? are you some sort of multi-state salesman?

Wow!! My 98 GS 300, which I purchased the first month it came out in 1997, just turned 77,777 this week. You've put more miles on your car in 2 years than I have done in 10 years on mine.

Silly me, I always thought that people who drove 15,000 miles per year were heavy drivers.

Sounds like you really got your money's worth on the 430 so I'm sure you'll enjoy the 460L as well. Good luck.

you think the GS looks like an ES and the LS doesn't??? The ES and LS are practically twins

+1 to that! From a distant side view a lot of people confuse ES/GS/LS due to L-finesse lines. But, there is no confusion when you get closer and of course when you see the front and the back. If anything, ES and LS are very close in external layout. I always look at ES being a mini-me of LS, and IS a mini-me of GS (althrough IS/GS similarities are more on interior rather than exterior). While being a former owner of ES350, I also agree there is a heck of similarities with Camry, but the big difference is in details. Oh, of course, those those *twins* share the same *lovely* tranny

Funny, I was thinking the same thing.

In any event, congratulations on the new LS. It is definitely a great car
