The reason it is not publicized is so that an average joe walking in will buy WHAT'S ON THE LOT or a vehicle that can easily be found thru a DX. Remember, anything can be done if the money is there so don't be expecting $500 over invoice on a special order GS... However, I certaintly wouldn't make someone pay over MSRP just because they were unhappy with one of the standard wood combinations.

Totally understand. When I was negotiating for my GS a few days ago, the sales manager straight up said he would make the deal with me if I were to take one off the lot, but since what I want is what they don't have, he couldn't accept the deal. I think it's reasonable to pay MSRP or at least fairly close to it for a special order though!

I think things can happen with the right amount of money, granted it's sublet work that's all aftermarket. It's very unlikely you will see a black leather w/black birds eye maple manufactured directly from Japan.
This was one question I asked an official Lexus Product Planner a few years ago before the release of the LS460 to the public. I asked her specifically why doesn't Lexus offer a Black leather w/black birds eye maple interior. She said because of the colors, it doesn't feel inviting, granted it did not fit the criteria for interior design.
Here's the Lexus GS Pace Car interior. The car originally had a regular Black w/red walnut steering wheel. I asked my buddy to switch the interior to all black birds eye from another GS they had at their disposal with Ash & Black Birds Eye. Since there was no time to swap out all the wood for a race they had scheduled, he just placed the Black leather/Black Birds Eye steering wheel in this all Black w/Red Maple GS Pace Car.
There are 3 particular things I am looking for...For the 3rd Gen GS die-hards out there, can you tell me what is different about the interior of this car (besides the obvious safety harnesses & switches?

I have never seen that many Porsche SUV and 911 in my life, followed distantly by Mercedes Benz. From what I saw, most Porsche vehicles were
driven by males and most females were driving MB SL as well as an assortment of BMW's. By comparison, I saw very few Lexus and Jags, in fact I saw more BMW's than a combination of both.
