Default GS 350 Tires

How long are your tires supposed to last?

I have a 2007 GS 350 - and i have about 11,000 miles so far. Ever since my 10K oil change and tire rotation i hear a vibration noise coming from one of the tires on the driver side. I don't feel much of a vibration - just hear it - and as i start from 0 mph and increase the vibration noise increases.

I took it back to the dealer that did the 10k maint. thinking just one of the tires are off balance. After waiting about 20 minutes - the guy told me that the tires are supposed to last only 15,000 miles - and that my tires is starting to "couple" (I guess that is how you spell it).

I asked the guy if there is anything i did to cause it and he said it wasn't something that i did - but the tires just weared unevenly. He said that he would get with Lexus and see if there is anything they can do for me. He said he would get back with me within a week. They did say that the tread still looks good on them though.

I haven't heard back yet - i was just wondering if any of you have heard of this - or know how long the tires are supposed to last. 15k miles sounds really low - but i am not sure.

Are you sure you don't have runflats? You didn't mention if you have AWD, cause those usually come with stock runflats which supposed to last upto 20k but most of the time reliable only upto 15k. So, if you indeed have funflat tires, than 15k tire lifetime sounds normal. Those tires are terrible, I just waiting another 10k miles until I can switch them off.

How do I know if I have runflat tires?

I looked at the tires and it said the following:

Dunlop
225/50R17 S4W
Steel Belt Radal
Tubeless

I don't think it is AWD - how can i find that out too?

If you still have the window sticker that came on the car, that should give you the information regarding the tires and AWD or RWD.

It says 17" Alloy Wheels w/225/50R17 W-Rated Tires.

I don't see antying on the sticker that says AWD. It says 2007 / 9300A GS350 4-DR SEDAN. I am assuming if it was AWD it would say it there in the description - right?

That's right. It sounds like you have RWD. Another way to make sure is to look at your accelerator pedal. If it is relatively small (5" long or so) and hangs from above, it's an AWD, if it is larger and pivots on the floor, it's a RWD.

The dealership called me today and said Lexus is going to give me a brand new set of Michelin tires. I had Dunlop tires before - which is better?

Thumbs up Lexus = Ultimate Customer Service

After I put about 5000 miles on my factory Yokohama A10B, it also started to make lots of road noise and pulling. Second time after I complained to my service advisor, he went ahead talked to Lexus and his service manager trying to solve the issue. He called me back the very next day, letting me know that they have ordered a new set of Michelins PS2 as replacement.

Ultimate customer service to Sewell Lexus in Dallas, Texas.

They just replaced my tires (and the brake pads) yesterday. How do I know if I have the PS2 or another Michelin tire?

It should be labelled on the side of your new tires...

Post Read the Label on the Tire

If your GS have the Michelin tires, it should either read "Pilot Sport (PS2)" or "Pilot Primacy;" both tires are Z rated summer tires.

Pilot Sport (PS2) is a Max Performance Summer tire member of the Michelin Pilot family of low profile, high-speed tires. Initially developed for Original Equipment (O.E.) on some of the world's most prestigious sports cars and performance sedans, the Pilot Sport PS2 combines world-class dry road traction, handling and cornering; tread wear is 220.

Pilot Primacy is a Grand Touring Summer tire that was developed to meet the needs of sporty luxury coupe and sedan drivers who want comfort and tread life along with performance. The Pilot Primacy also focuses on enhancing wet weather traction and hydroplaning resistance; tread wear is 240.

ive heard a lot of horror stories regarding the dunlop run flats. i have 10,100 on my car and there is still plenty of rubber with even tread wear. aside from the ever so slight road noise i really dont have any complaints. In fact if they do last me to the 18,000 to 20,000 miles i will probably get another set. I will be cautious over the next 10,000 miles, but my experience thus far has not been bad. I like the fact that i dont need a spare and if there is a problem i dont have to worry about getting hit by another car while changing a flat.

Old thread. What does a tread wear rating of 240 mean? 24,000mi?
