However, we all have different values, and I believe $130 for an oil change for a car like the GS is perfectly fine and I really don't know why you're so pissed about it. IT'S NOT YOUR MONEY!!!!

Besides, if a person can afford to spend $50K on a car, what makes you believe they will find the cheapest oil change location possible for their oil change needs? I'm not saying we should all waste our hard-earned cash on depreciating goods and over-priced services, but it's the perception of value that makes everyone so different and unique. For me, spending $130 on an oil change for my GS is perfectly reasonable, and besides, I like the way I'm being treated whenever I have my car serviced at the dealership. I guess that's what the F$#K is wrong with me because I'm one of the people who are willing to pay $130 for an oil change for my Lexus. Why? Because I know I'm worth it to drive a beautiful automobile such as the GS, and I can deal with all the expense that comes with owning such a refined car. Most importantly, I work hard for my money and I can afford to spend however I want to!!
Nicely put...I just had my 15K service and it was around $200. Pohanka Lexus was able to fix all of the TSIB's and issues...no questions asked. I'll be bringing it back for the 20K

Exclamation Too Expensive !!!

At Sewell Lexus in Dallas, Texas, they normally charge $50.00 for regular oil change and $120.00 for Mobil 1.

The diffecence is that they do give me the option to bring my own Mobil 1 and charge $32.00 for the service with oil filter and the ring.

I pretty sure that service dealers in AZ and CA are ripping Lexus owner off big time!!!

How much is it for a 15K service in Dallas?

The reason is that by YOU and others accepting this price, it makes it Ok for Lexus to charge me this price.

I didn't suggest they should. When I was in Grad school, I never paid for oil changes. There are programs out there that would allow you to get your oil changes for free. There are also coupons that flood my mailbox on a daily basis for $10 to $17 oil changes.

I use as a benchmark of high limit on oil changes of $40 because that's more than Acura charges, and more than any high-quality local independent mechanic would charge you.

If instead of getting all righteous about how it is your money and how you're such a hard worker earning your $50K for a car, you'd just stop for a second and think, you'd see my point. Which is this: Lexus is not doing anything materialy different when changing your oil than what Acura would do. Yet they feel that the brand name alone is worth an additional $100 markup. Surely you didn't feel that GS as a whole was worth a 250% markup over Acura RL! Then why would the oil change warrant it?

I mean, I realize why you're so defensive about it. You are making a bad financial decision, and deep inside you fully realize it. As a result, being a human being, you try to find some justification for doing it, no matter how silly. If it makes you feel better, keep deluding yourself. It's a lot easier than standing up to a dealer over a "measly" $100.

Well I just had mine done Thursday and didn't ask the question up front and recieved a bill for $620! &#$@!. They said it is normally around $450 -500 but since I asked for the synthetic oil it was more. They replaced tranny, rear diff, and added the fuel cleaner and checked everything else. Needless to say, I was so pissed that they are giving me a free detail (at some future date) but I am never taking it back to the Albuquerque Lexus!!

I just did my oil change at Jiffy Lube and it cost me $37.50. Just because I can afford the pay the prices that Lexus charges me for oil changes, there is absolutely no reason why I should. I would rather spend that money on something else. And I can care less what the service department tells me too! I also always wonder why a car that is so reliable needs service every 5000 miles? That is bull!

15k service in Raleigh NC is @ $140.00. If you choose to use Mobil 1 its @ $170.00. A basic oil change is @ $60.00. If you use Mobil 1 it's @ $90.00.
The dealer charges $7.25 for an oil filter. This is just some info I wanted to share.
