Question What does it mean exactly?

In the article, it says "To keep the GS range fresh, a minor facelift is also expected to be introduced. Furthermore, the LS460’s 4.6-litre V8 powerplant, complete with its world-first eight-speed automatic gearbox, will be slotted into the current GS next year."

What does this really mean? Are they talking about changes that will happen in 2008? On in 2007 for the 2008 models? And, is the eight-speed comment really true?

All that is confirmed for the '08 model is the introduction of the 4.6L engine on the V8 3GS.

Otherwise, there is no confirmed information regarding which tranny Lexus will provide, what type of suspension, nor any information regarding "refurbishment." It will definately not be redesigned as the 3GS is only a couple of years old (MY '06 and '07).

Autospies news is speculation. The 4.6L is inevitable for the GS as 3rd model year production of any Toyota/Lexus vehicle is a powertrain update or change. It's a natural progression which is a given, but it has already been confirmed by my direct sources at Lexus. It shouldn't be news.

As for the rest of the ramble in their article...that's all it is. It's confirmed speculation. Nothing official about it.

I'm in the same boat. Have an 06 now and really prefer the power of the GS350. I can't really think of a reason not to wait for the 08.

I currently have a 06 GS300, and would like to upgrade to a GS350 as well. I just got a quote from a dealer for a fully loaded 07 GS350 for 45300+TTL. It's really tempting to just get it, as I consider this is a good price for a fully loaded 07 GS350. I also wanted to see what are being added to the GS for MY08 before I make up my mind. Any suggestion?

One important question....what are they giving you for your 06 on that deal? Dlr told me they'd give KBB trade-in value. Not sure if the 08's will go up in price, but we can be sure our 06's will drop in value once the 08's come out. With the 08's only a few months away, I intend to wait. I'm sure there will be improvements that I'd be kicking myself over if I'd jumped in just a few months earlier and missed out...especially if the $$$ are about the same.

Bottom line...the important number is not the sales price of the new car. It's the number you have to write on your check to fill the gap between your trade-in value and the new car.

Well, they offered 33K on my car, which is a bit low consider the condition of my car (even though it has 25K miles on it). KBB has it for about 35000 with similar milage on the 06, and the dlr will not come close to that figure consider I've bought 6 cars from that dealership. (4 for relatives in the family)

If Lexus will indeed make facia upgrades to the GS for 08MY, then I think most likely I'll wait since I would hate to miss out on the new gadgets as well. Still, 45300 for a fully loaded 07 GS350 is nevertheless a great price...

Don't fall for their games. If they're giving you a "great" price on an 07, but under-compensating you by $2k for your trade...it's not a great deal. In this case, it's no different than paying $47,300 for the 07.

chocaholic,
Thx for the advice. I called the dealership today and said "thanks, but no thanks on the 07 GS". I'll hold my temptations until the 08MY and pull the trigger.
One thing the fleet manager did tell me is that cars depreciate the most in their first yr, so trading my 06 GS for the 07 really isn't a smart move, but couldn't hold the thoughts of having the 5th Gen nav & that extra pony pwr, not to say the 18 inch 5-spoke rim.
Nevertheless, I'll still be cruising in style until I get the 08 into my garage.

Has anyone heard anything about new factory wheels for the 08 GS. I heard there was a 19" wheel coming, albeit from a very UN-reliable source. Just wondering...
