Wow, it could have been a lot worse. Good thing you guys came out of this unharmed. I hope you get it back as good as new.

Exclamation 2006 GS430 Accident! :-( pics

i'm reposting this on this forum despite originally on another forum, which for some reason has recently gone to sleep. this forum is much better and is my new home, so.....here goes:

So here's how it happened. I was sitting shot gun, not driving... The driver decided to punch it going downhill on a moist evening. The car started to drift. So they counter steered but when the traction kicked in, they didn't correct the steering wheel...so the right front rim slammed into the curb, and popped off and started rolling down the hill. Then the car swerved over to the other side of the road, and same thing happened on that side. Wheel broke off. There was no inpact with anyone else, any cars, any signs, nothing. It was strictly wheel on curb contact that caused all this damage. The fenders are messed up from the broken rim flopping around inside the well. The insurance adjuster said its going to cost a ridiculous 14 thousand dollars. Thank God that #1 everyone is alive and unhurt and #2 i wasn't driving so im not gonna end up paying for it =) .

Ouch. The most important part is that no one was hurt. The car is replaceable/repairable, life isn't.

O/T, not sure how Progressive works, but unfortunately if you're the policy holder of this car, your insurance rates may still be affected on your next renewal. Exposure of risk due to an at fault collision.

stock suspension + wild driver thinking his car is invincible + downhill + wet = bad news bears.

glad you're alive man and next time, you drive.

This thread reminds me that japanese cars are very fragile.
kinda like this..... http://www.yourdailymedia.com/media/...heels_Fall_Off

I dunno, but do all cars' wheels fall off when they hit the curb at 60mph? I would think the car would jump the curb..

I don't think any car going that fast at it's trajectory could sustain no damage from a loss like that. No car is invincible to solid objects unfortunately regardless of speed. Something will give as you cannot defy physics.
