Default 20 inch tire rub in rear

I noticed driving with a couple of people in the backseat that I was getting some rubbing when going across intersections or uneven road surfaces. Anyone else experience this?

I have 20 x 8.5 with 275 30 20 tires in the rear.

There's your problem right there. 275 is too wide for an 8.5 width wheel. You can either change the tires to 245-255 width, or shave the rear fenders.

Ok,

Thanks, I will look at the fender option and explore any other options. I really like the wide tire but if it does not work I will have to look at changing them.

There's No Way Around It Unless You Do Fender Mods....you Can Get A Thin 275-30-20 (toyo's Are Thin) To Reduce The Rub When You Have Passengers...i'm Running 275 And I Can Have One Passenger Without Rubbing...AND MY GS IS LOWERED TOO...

Rubbing Isn't That Bad...not Like You Bank Turns In The Gs...or Do You??...haha....

275 is pretty wide for a 8.5" wide rim.

I'm curious to see what a 285 looks like on an 8.5" wheel. Does it bubble out excessively on the sides? Maybe you can take picture for us.

There's A Nice Buffer Of Tire To Protect The Rim!!!!

I Would Just Run These Tires Down And When It's Time Get A Smaller Tire To Reduce Or Maybe Even Eliminate Rubbing In The Back...

Actually, that doesn't look too bad...not as bubbled out as I thought it would be.

I believe the maximum width tire that should go on an 8.5" rim is about 255. Going beyond that could be considered unsafe for performance driving anyway. Certainly, it compromises the tire's handling characteristics. I sure wouldn't grind or bend my fenders to accomodate such a mod. It might be worth the $3 - 400 to swap to proper sized tires.
