Traded ES350 for GS350

IMHO, the 5th gen (2007+) ES is where Lexus lost touch. Prior to '07, the ES was loosely based off the JDM Toyota Windom. Toyota dc'd the Windom in 2005, so now the ES is based off the US Camry. As you can attest, there is a world of difference b/w the JDM Windom and the domestic Camry. . .

I thought of going thru a buy back but the dealership did right by me so I just traded it. I just really wanted out of the ES. I saw a post a week ago about the ES not being a real Lexus. I was a little offended at the time but after trading I see where they were coming from. There is just no comparison. ES is a nice car for the money but for 7 grand extra you get what you pay for. RWD is so nice to get back too.

not loosely based. the es had always been identical to the windom.
it was just renamed for the US market, and some of the options became standard.
the camry always shared the same platform as the windom.

unfortunately for me I did not do enough research when my Acura was totaled. I would have bought a GS first and saved my self a lot of time and headaches. Oh well, at least I have the GS now and I have never had a car that I believe drove better. Just a great car
