Question Wheel&Tire Recommendations/Advice

My wife and I are thinking about buying a 2007 GS350 in GFM with ash interior as soon as we sell our 2003 BMW 530i. If we don't sell soon we may be looking at a 2008 and the rumor is that GFM is going away for 2008. I have never been a fan of aftermarket wheels as working at a Chevrolet dealer for 22 years I saw nothing but problems caused by non hub eccentric aftermarket wheels. Do some wheel companies now offer hub eccentric OEM specific wheels now? I'm most likely going to leave the suspension stock because I really would like to keep the integrity of the stock set up and just want something a little more unique and meatier. Possible 19" and no larger with a staggered setup. Budget on the wheels no more than $350-$400 each. Any suggestions? I don't want cheap crap but I do have a budget limitation in mind.

With that price range, you're looking at Axis, TSW, MRR, Sevas, Enkei, maybe G Games. These are the cheaper wheels that are of decent quality. Don't worry about problems with hub-centric wheels or the lack thereof. All wheels are sold with hub=centric rings these days. They center the wheel to oem specs ensuring a safe and true riding wheel. I've been using then almost 20 years with no issues...zero problems.

Unhappy Just My Speculation

My dealer's sales manager thinks it might be going away. Also, over on the IS forum a forum member in Canada that has access to dealership ordering information on the 2008 models said that GFM is gone on the IS's for 2008. I can't see them dropping it just on the IS and if Canada is dropping it I would think that the USA will as well. Just my speculation and I really hope I'm wrong because we have not had any luck selling our BMW and it's looking like we may only be able to get a 2008 by the time we do.

Yeah that sounds right then.

What's the difference between your asking price and dealer's trade-in quote?

Thumbs down Trade In

I didn't even bother asking and our sales person recommended that if we can't sell it we take it to Car Max. He said they will offer you more than any dealer will and stated that they have sent several people there to try and salvage sales deal. They really don't have much of a used car department like some dealers have. We are asking Kelly Bluebook private party value with "Good" as the condition even though the car is in better than good. Good to excellent would describe it better.
We had an Infiniti dealer offer us 5K less than Kelly trade value. That was a joke. It has been my experience that you either get a fair price on the new car or a fair price on your trade, but never on both. We'll just have to wait it out.

The quality of the oem wheels is pretty good, make sure that with the budget you have that the aftermarket wheel is actually an improvement over stock not just in the way it looks.I have seen aftermarket wheels that even if hub eccentric actually was heavier and made with less attention to detail than the oem wheels.

I believe that's the case. Are you going to go the Carmax route?

You don't like any of the Lexus OEM rims? G-Spyder, Tourmaline, ISP, and the 19"s as well.

If we don't have any bites buy Monday the 25th I'm going to run it over to Car Max and find out how much they are willing to buy it for.
I do like the stock 18's. Maybe have them chromed depending on the car's color. There is no staggered set up from Luxus however, so that is why I was looking at after market. I also like the look of the Lexus TTE 19's. They are not staggered either though.

Good luck with that! Hopefully you can join us soon picking up a GFM

These look good!

As far as staggered setup goes, you can do a staggered tires setup.
