I'm pretty surprised as well. I would have guessed three groups of "color popularity"

Mercury Metallic, Smokey Granite Mica and Obsidian in the top tier

Matador, Starfire, Black Sapphire in the second tier

GFM, Chardonnay, Verdigris and QSM in the more unique tier.

Anyone know the sales figures by color?

Question Surprised As Well

Not the results I expected either. My wife likes SGM the best and I've been trying to talk her into GFM stating that it is a less available/more unique color. If these results are consistent with sales figures overall, then SGM is more unique/less avaiable. That's the color my wife really wants anyhow, so you know how this is going to play out.

Well you can always tell her SGM is less common because it is less liked as the polls show ( not my opinion just offering an excuse ). The only drawback that I can see of GFM is that it is more to paint if someone keys your car or if accident since it is a 3 stage paint, and it is also slightly harder to match. But I love how the color of the car is different depending on the time of day and weather.
Funny story of GFM paint is while talking to friend of my mother (she is 65 ) who has the GFM paint she said that she went in to the mall and when she came out she couldn't find her new (only had it for 3 days)car so she contacted security after 30 min. of looking. The security arrived and told her that her car was basically just in front of her. She went home and told her husband something happened to the paint of the car and she couldn't find her car yesterday. Husband told her about the color shifting paint of her car and told her to just remember her new license plate number and look at that the next time.

SGM is the color I see the most around here... JD Power, if you believe them lists gray (SGM) as the most popular color

There is a fine line between unique and unattractive for my wife and I. GFM is right on the bubble for us. When it looks just plain primer grey, that is when we are not quite sure about if we really like it. Everybody has different tastes. As you can see however, there are some colors that very few people find acceptable/attractive.

Talking 2007 GFM Ordered

Well, we ordered our 2007 350GS today. The wife didn't want to wait for the 2008's. After several discussions we went with GFM, so I have now voted. Hopefully the sale on our BMW doesn't fall thru. Everything looks good but until Saturday comes and we have the money in hand, we will be a bit nervous.

My color isn't listed, but the reason why I was attracted to the Blue Onyx Pearl was that in the day time you have this blue car and at night it looks like you have a black car. It's like having two cars for the price of one.

wish they had the IS breakwater blue metallic in the GS. That color is the only color I would like more than the GFM.
