Well folks, it was bound to happen, yes, I got a speeding ticket.
I was going with the flow not being reckless, then I went to pass.
As I was passing I accelerated about 10mph and well, I got gunned.

The V1 went off immediately, so immediately I hit the breaks. Then I heard a second read. Bah, should have got that blinder installed.

Anyone know of a good traffic lawyer in CO?

He brought the radar/lazer up to the window and goes "see". Bah

He did say there was a 20 mph clock speed difference from the first to the second clock.

He was at least impressed by that, but still gave me the same mph ticket, no break.

Might need some assistance with this one.

Please, some suggestions.

Is it best to go in there with somone who knows what he's doing rather than me by myself, or is that looked at as being to aggressive?

I read somewhere awhile back about an online traffic lawyer........?????one.

I was not aware speeding tickets were what traffic lawyers are looking for. How much could a ticket be, max I can think of is $400-500, that is way up there, cost you more than that to bring an attorney to court, and you may lose anyways since you were speeding, your best hope is to reschedule the traffic court date and hope the officer does not get the notice to appear at a different date than originally assigned.

Is there a traffic school/class type thing you could take instead of getting fined/point deduction?

Might end up costing more getting a lawyer?

Some of the people I know keep delaying the court date and in the end, the cop doesn't show up and case dismissed.

^ Yep, rescheduling worked for me (about 8 years ago, speeding ticket). The main thing is not to get any points which will affect your insurance, speaking from Jersey point of view. When you go to court, they just want your money. So you can easily bargain for no points, as long as you pay for the ticket and court fee. Hiring a lawyer is a waste of money, unless you were doing over 100mph?

I didn't want to say the specifics b/c you'd think it was worse than it is.
I was honestly going with the flow, until I passed.
the flow was about 70-75mph

The speed limit was 55mph and I got clocked at 89.

It's a required court appearance. I might get something in the mail reducing it to 1/2. But just incase not I want to be prepared. This is my first ticket in like 4 years so I'm not worried about points, just record and insurance rates after....

Jason, you should definitely get an attorney, anything that is 30 over (25 in some counties) is considered reckless driving or some other crazy 2 point violation and you are definitely not eligible for traffic school. To make matters worse, certain vehicle code infractions lead to mandatory license suspension. In CA, 30 over is big time $1000+ fine, 2 points, license suspension, and no traffic school depending on the vehicle code that the officer chooses to cite you for. Best case scenario, 1 point, $1000+ fine, and no traffic school.

From what I have heard and read, it's pretty easy to beat radar/laser tickets. There are lots of little things like mandatory equipment calibrations, prohibited usage on streets more than so many lanes wide, etc. There are plenty of online sources like ticketassasin.com etc. Good luck and don't ask how I know all of this.

In Texas, these lawyers are all over the place and are on billboards. The goal is not to get off in most cases but to pay the fine and not plead guilty. In Texas, that is called deferred disposition or deferred adjudication. You are basically on probation for a period of time. There are restrictions like how fast over the limit and such. Since you have to appear in court, do not plead guilty. In Texas, you can get a lawyer to do this for you for about 100 bucks and you play the fines. You can do it yourself if you do your research.

If you’re really serious about getting out of the ticket, keep postponing the court date and hope the officer does not show up.

Man, 89 shouldn't be illegal...that's a perfect speed to be going in these GS cars...unless you are in 55mph zone.. Its so effortless to go from 65-90 in no time passing people. I often find myself not realizing I'm at 90mph before i slow down.

Well anyway, some good points have been brought up. I'll give you a easy one to try. When I lived in NC I got out of 2 speeding tickets and also 1 in VA. I went directly to the county courthouse and went to talk to the DA or asst DA. In both cases they didn't see me so I was just real nice and dressed in my suit talking to their assistants. I had told them that I wanted to talk to them about reducing my ticket from a speeding ticket to a NON MOVING violation and would to pay my court fines right then. They asked me if I had any recent tickets...I played dumb on the first one and said I think it was like 5 years ago (probably like 3). They immediately changed my ticket and paid right there on the spot. 2 years later when I got the next ticket the same thing happened when I went to the DA. Except the DA wasn't in and the girl logged onto her computer with my ticket and looked at my record...i was a little nervous about the ticket I had 2 years ago and how that would show up. She looked it up and said no problem, made it a non moving violation and again paid my $125 on the spot.
Now my 3rd ticket I got traveling through VA, which that state really sux (esp since no radars allowed...although I still had my V1 on). I had to hire an attorney there b/c the DA wouldn't even discuss it over the phone since I was out of state. I got raped by the attorney for $450. I told him that I needed him to make it a non moving violation when he went to court. I also had to mail them my out of state DMV record from NC so that was the first time I saw my driving record and my 2 tickets that I got changed were not reflected. The judge came back and said he would change that ticket to a NON MOVING violation for me if I did an online traffic course...so I did.

Now, why would they do this? They have such a heavy load of offenders in the courtroom and like to clear out the real petty stuff if possible...and collect your $$$'s. And if you are not a habitual offender and an overall clean personal record, they tend to be a little easier. Some attys will also negotiate with the DA in advance to reduce the speed to maybe 9mph over speedlimit. I would play up the fact that you have a very clean driving record. They really don't like all the excuses

Anyway, its a cheap alternative and an effective one to avoid points and your insurance getting involved. They may not change your 34MPH over the speed limit there so an attorney would be advisable. Being in the Yellow Page business, the younger attorneys tend to do more traffic tickets like yours..more experienced attys will charge you more like $350-500 to handle your case. Look for the ads that focus on Criminal Law/Traffic tickets. These specialists may be a little cheaper than other counselors that like the white collar crimes, DUI cases, etc

Non-moving violations typically involve illegal parking; parking in front of a fire hydrant, parking in a posted non-parking zone or at an expired meter, talking on a cell phone, etc

Moving violations include offenses such as speeding, reckless driving and driving under the influence, some of which may be punishable by a loss of your drivers license, jail and/or fine.

Insurance companies look for the moving violations which impact your points and overall rates.

the main issue on this post is the 34mph over speed limit which could be reckless driving but would think the cop would have noted that on the ticket if so. that's when an attorney becomes advisable to avoid loss of license

I just ended checking around with associates and they referred me to actually the "best" around. He is a little pricey, but he assures me that I will get it from 34+ over, to under 10mph over. He also assures me that he will get it to a 1-2 point. Hell ya, worth it to me.
He is so tough and knows his stuff that once he gor "radar" guns the specific lidar ones thrown out of Boulder the city for 3 years.
Now that's good.

That is a real problem. It is not fair. I don't think that you need to pay a fine for accelerating for two miles more than it is normal. It is easily explainable and most important speed is not so high. I would surely use the help of some solicitors from waymanandlong.co.uk. I can surely say that they will help you get rid of paying this absurd fine, and also maybe you will get compensation for the money you lost for using their serves and most importantly for the time you have lost during dealing with this ridiculous problem.

Literally any lawyer will do. Most prosecutors and town attorneys see an attorney representation letter sent into the court with your ticket pleading not guilty, and unless you have an absolutely horrible record, they’ll reduce to a parking ticket and no points/school.

I do tickets for friends all the time and I have never had to do anything other than send in an attorney representation letter and sometimes a driving abstract.

RXGS, you're probably right. But sometimes it doesn't work. A lot of people simply do not know where to find a good and reliable lawyer for their jural problems and issues, if there appear any of those. I'm not quite sure, but based on the comments I've been reading on one well-known forum, a lot of people like those guys ( url here: https://federal-lawyer.com/new-jersey/ ), and the jural services, which they provide for their clients.
