I just got a call from my salesman yesterday. He claims the same thing. Production to start in August and cars will arrive at dealership in September.

The third cousin (twice removed) from a distant step-brother from a friend of a friend who works the assembly line at a janitorial supply company heard from a former sale rep of a company who supplies water softening chemicals to the chief custodian at a Lexus dealership that the '08s will be arriving after Labor Day.
Sometimes theres an early release like for example the 2006 GS when it was released in the first quarter of 2005. Late Aug/Early Sept is when the 2008 model year cars will be available at dealerships.
The GS 460 will begin being built in August 2007 with cars showing up in Sept-Oct of 2007.
