Ringing and bluetooth?
I'm going to get a 2008 GS 350. My current phone died forcing me to get a new phone now (Cingular 3125, which shows as having good syncing with 2007 model).
Here is something I don't understand. I know that when a call comes in, the radio volume is muted and you can answer the bluetooth call. But if you aren't playing the radio, you'll need to be able to hear the ringing (or happen to look at console display) so that you'll know a call is coming in.
The ringer on my new phone is not very loud. Does the Lexus send a ringing sound through the car speakers when a bluetooth call comes in?

yes, but apparently it depends on the phone model. some models reportedly will not play ringtones over the speakers, while others will. every phone i've used in the car has worked so far, but not all owners were so lucky.

I have a Sony-Ericsson W810i which I originally programed to announce the name of the caller before ringing. I didn't realize until just recently that it also announces the name before it rings through the bluetooth in the car as well.

I'll have to try that - I've got the same phone. I have a custom ringtone so that doesn't play when someone calls, instead I get a default ring tone through the Lexus system...

Oh.. now I understand why I receive a phone call and my car doesn't ring.. cause my phone set in "Headset" to be silence. hahaha
I'll try it out when I get a chance.
Thanks. Knew I'll find an answer here.

didn't work on my phone. The phone rings but the car stay quiet while the screen display that there's an incoming call. In a way this works fine for me cause if there is something playing than it will get cut off when the phone is ringing and my phone will actually rings.
But I was hoping it ring through the car's speakers.

I have to bring this thread back to life... my old phone didn't ring either despite I put it on regular ringing when connecting to car's bluetooth.
Anyway, my gs430 bluetooth sux big time. I've never seen such a horrible setup of transferring contact. I wish I can input them manually into the car instead of doing the transfer, and than the bluetooth transfer problem kept disconnect and than never reconnect until I power off the entire car. and my god, I have to transfer each contact? Why the hel can't I transfer all at once? Each contact takes about 5mins, so take hours to transfer and having to deal with the constant disconnect.
Who's crazy mind created this?

If it takes that long to transfer via BT, there is more than likely a problem with the phone model. Many people transfer their entire phone book without a problem in a few minutes.

Yang, I've tried with a few phones.. none of them I can transfer the entire phone book. I have the gs430 2006.
How do u input manually? I'm looked through the ownermanual, all I see is the transfer.
