Default Car vibrates when right rear window is down

I have a weird problem. When ever I pull down the right rear passenger window when going over 45 there is a real loud vibration noise in the car. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Yep, its the air pressure building up in the car and vibrating everything in the car

It's not a problem, just a natural occurrence that you would observe in absolutely any vehicle with a roof.

Yes, all Lexus have this issue, even SUVs. Some people think its b/c the cars are so well isolated (fit and finish) that when you open anything, it depressurizes....

Wow!

Porsche 911 has similar quirk. Sunroof cannot be raised up in the back portion without cracking windows to release pressure. Every car has is characteristics.

The whole time I thought something was messed up, I kept putting each window down one by one to test it and it was only that window so I guessed something was wrong. So I guess I wont pull the right rear window down ever again.

it's not that you can't put the rear window down ever again! you just can't have it opened without having a front window or sunroof cracked. that will create an airflow pattern the cabin needs to prevent the flapping noise. if you only have air going in thru 1 or both of the rear windows, the air is forced to the rear of the cabin and the thumping noise persists.

it's a physics thing, specifically resonance. the same phenomenon that allows you to blow air into an empty bottle for that deep whistle. here's a thing on wikipedia if you are interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmholtz_resonator
