Default Mirror memory

I've noticed lately that the outside mirrors don't return to the same position each time I push the memory button. I can sit there and push the button 3, 4, 5, 6 times and each time the mirrors move and stop at a slightly different position. I'm not sure if they've always been this way, or if this is something new.

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm wondering if there's a problem with my car, or if all of our cars are like this.

Thanks in advance.

I have noticed the same thing. They never go back to the same position when I use the memory. I find myself trying to work the little drop-down while I'm driving. Not a good idea.

It is frustrating.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't notice it with my mirrors but I do notice it with my seat. I've got to back it up all of the way, and the memory won't go all of the way back. I've reprogrammed it a few times but still same results.

Try this.. keep the driver door open until the seat is fully adjusted by the memory button. I noticed the seat would immediately stop adjusting once the driver door is closed.

It also doesn't start moving until you open the door.

I know cause I just stared at my seat from outside the car after I pressed "unlock" on the remote to see it moves

I usually hit the memory button with the door open before I get in if the seat has been moved. When I use the memory to reset the mirrors I'm already in the car with the door closed. It's usually because I had the mirrors folded and after they unfold they aren't set correctly. I've never tried opening or closing the door while the seat is moving. But when I hit the memory, the seat, if it moves at all, moves just once -- unlike the mirrors.

The mirrors are driving me nuts. here is what I figured out:
First I programmed my setting as slot # 1. My wife is slot # 2.
It is possible to program the remote (fob) to recognize the driver and automatically adjust the seat. I cleared out this function, for testing purposes. The instructions are in the manual (I think, with the engine off, hold the memory set button {not the slot button} and then the unlock on the remote). This did not resolve the problem.

I concluded that the problem is the auto tilt feature, when the car is in reverse. The mirrors are fine when I get into the car, but the driver's mirror gets messed up when I reverse out of my parking spot. So, I shut off the auto rear tilt, and the problem went away. The dealer has already replaced my passenger size mirror because it died, now I guess they will need to replace the driver's side mirror too.

If you have the mirrors folded will the remote unlock button unfold the mirrors while going thru an adjustment?

I don't use the reverse tilt feature, but I do fold the mirrors.

Not that I'm aware of.

I don't know either. I don't fold the mirrors.
