I'm stuck with a tough decision
Hi. I've been saving for a Lexus for a couple years now, and I now have the money for a brand bew gs350. The problem is...I think that the 08's are going to coming out soon. If you guys were me, would you get a great deal on a loaded '07, or jut wait a little longer and pay more for an '08 w/o as many options due to the cost/demand?
I seriously have been waiting for 2 years now for my new GS, and i'm stuck with this really hard decision right now! What would you guys do? I think the price difference and savings is pretty significant....

If you're going for the V6 I'd go with the '07 - from what I've read the '08 changes are no big deal...on the other hand if you're going for the V8 i'd wait for the '08 - from what I've read it's getting a new 8sp trasmission as well as a brand new engine .

Do you have any information to support the price increase for the 08? I've not heard that. Demand for the GS is somewhat variable depending on your location. If you're buying a GS and intend to keep it for a while, I'd be inclined to buy an 08 to get the latest refinements possible....if the cost difference is reasonable (<$3k). Assuming you've got $45k-$48k to spend, I'd go for the 08.

07 discounts will be pretty significant while it'll be tough to get dealers to budge on the 08s. I got $6k off MSRP for a fully loaded GS350. If you could get a reasonable discount off MSRP for an 08, I'd get that instead since the resale value will be better. Otherwise, get the cheaper 07, esp. for the 350 which shouldn't change much.

I'll definitely wait for the 08 and hope they get rid of all these rattles and problems. The little differences such as side mirror lights will make the gs look a little better too.

Might as well look around right now...
Look around now. If the car (with wanted options) you want is available, get it. If the car you want is not available, hold for the '08.
You'll never know what type of regional allocations will be available for '08.
You can also do a Special Order of the '08. Try to negotiate the price of the car during the Special Order, so you don't have to deal with it later...

If the facelift and buttlift are not dramatic and remain the same sexy appealing for the 08 GS, I will wait.
Hack, $$ is also important but not everyone care about it the same way. I'll say go for what you value the most.

Not an easy decision if you are looking at V6 GS350. It would of been easier last year going from GS300 to GS350 or now with GS430 to GS460. I don't think all the cosmetic (and no functional) GS350 changes we heard off so far justify spending more for '08... BUT, from my own experience, I felt better getting the latest after paying cash for my ride. Just a personal thing...

Thanks for the advise. It IS a very hard decision!!! I am in Southern Cal. and I already have recieved an offer for a GS350 with Navigation (the exact color scheme that I want) for $45,125 Out the door. After reading on this board about the pricing, that seems like a really awesome deal! The Autoland guy who was finding me the car told me that once the 08's come out, there will be no super discounts like this anymore. For the '08 GS 350, I will probably be spending 4k more. Since he is an Autoland salesman (through my credit union) he does not make commision so I think that he might have my best interest in mind. URGHHHH! This is tough. Ok, couple of questions....
1. How bad is the rattling REALLY? I drive a big ol' Ford Bronco now. I can take a bit of rattling. Plus, I like to listen to music on the louder side while I drive.
2. Realistically, when do you guys think the '08 will actually be at the dealership ready to purchase?
Thanks!

I just took delivery of a 2007 GS350 that I purchased with about $5700 off MSRP. I doubt you will get a deal like that on an '08, with little change between the models. If you want the V8 wait for the '08 GS460, but my experience with that model is there will not be alot of them on the lots and you chance of getting a great (or even good) deal will be far less than if you go with the GS350.
So far I have had NO issues with any rattling. Maybe this car was actually made after the problem was being adressed at the factory--but to date I have had no complaints.
Bottom line--if you want the best PRICE go with a '07 GS350. If you are getting about $6000 off MSRP I would jump on it...you will be getting a great car at a great price!

I'm sorry....I meant that there will be no discounts on the '08's....
I think that I'm going to jump into a '07 GS 350. My mind is almost 100% made up. Since I am not getting the V8, I think that the savings might out weigh the slight changes that the '08 might have! Thanks for your help. I'll post pictures when I get my new car!
