just got my car back today from the stealership cuz my concern about this problem. they said that they left the car out overnight and started it early in the morning and didnt hear anything....of coarse!! they told me not to worry about it and everything was probly fine.
all i know is..... on the first start of the day or when its been sitting for a while in the lower temperature weather, at the end of the start sequence it makes this LOUD grinding sound that can be heard from like 100ft away!!
This CANT be normal. especially from a $50K+ car!!
WTF Lexus???

THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!!!
Took a video of this on my camera and let the service rep listen to it when I bought it in for service. He hears it and says that it was probably the cams? I think that's what he said. They order parts and it's still at the dealership now. It's been there for a week but part came in last Wednesday and with the holiday and all. I should be getting it back Monday or Tuesday. Keep in mind that when I told the first 2 reps about an engine noise and start up, both reps told me it was the oil be pushed into the engine. This time I had audio and got a different response. My noise doesn't happen everytime either, but try to record it and let them listen.
I still can't believe people listening to that audio clip of the IS that I posted and agreed that it was normal.

I noticed the same thing on our IS350 when my wife started her car which had been parked over night on our incline drive way. When the engine started It sounded like the engine had no oil (a nasty sound for sure) for about 1-2 seconds then the engine became quite. Probably all the oil goes to the back of the pan. I haven’t tried this with my GS350, and after reading the posts here probably will not park my GS350 on the drive way over night. Is there a TSIB for this and were can I see it?

-gasket, camshaft bea;
-insulator, fuel pump;
-gasket, cylinder hea x2;
-gasket, air surge ta.

For TSIB EG20-07, just software update.
