Steven- youre right. My speedo is reading faster. I meant what I typed before but it came out sounding opposite. lol
Yang- Hmm in my car, that would be like my speedo showing I was going 80mph in a 65mph zone. Which would be around 77mph. But if a speedo can be off by 10mph than you would be at the limit of reasoning at that point. Ask them to see the coding for the gun they used to clock you. GL on that one, but if the judge is in a good mood, he'll throw it out of court as most manufactures of the laser guns consider the coding for the figuring out the speed a trade secret and won't bring it to court.

so, the 5.7 second 0-60 time aint accurate then.
it's really like 6.0 seconds to true 60.

my car doesn't sound fast anymore.

I was going 77 in a 65 zone. What's the "coding" thing for and is that relevant to accuracy???

Dude... Seriously don't know jack...

Do you think all these people who test cars rely on the speedometer in the car and a fricking stop watch to test for 0-60 time?

yang- Well they are trying to prove how the gun works to give the "accurate" numbers. So ppl have been asking to see the coding for the laser gun so we can see how its generating the numbers. But its a trade secret becuase that is what makes one laser gun different from another manufacturer. but its a hard thing to prove.

And I think dunnojack was just kidding. lol

hmmm... so I show up at the court date and ask for a copy of the coding, and if they fail to provide that, then they don't have a proof that the laser gun is accurate in measuring speed and therefore there is no way to say I was actually speeding?

what about the whole calibration thing?

I think he was too but wasn't sure since some of his other comments were kind of WTFBBQ...

yang- You have to read up about it. Not sure how it works. It was based on the idea that if you don't know how something is working then how do you know what its telling you is correct?
As for the callibration thing, GL on that. Here in Hawaii the cops actually memorize the steps needed to calibrate the unit. So all they do is rattle off what they do.

Hmm, don't let that layer that sued Honda hear about this. Otherwise he'll target Lexus next.

I'm sure the lawyers here can chime in on the specific wording, but for things ke laser and radar guns they are already on the courts Judicial Notice, thus the User (Police) no longer have to prove that the technology works or how it works. The court already recognizes that it does work. The best you could hope for is to see if the device was in proper working order at the time you got the ticket. Good luck with that as most every police agency have regularly scheduled calibration and maintenance on these types of law enforcement traffic devices.
