Lexus designs have for the most part gotten it right the first time. Rarely do they make a huge change during a model cycle.
This helps with Lexus cars keeping a strong identity and with re-sale value. Do you want your 50k luxury car having huge changes in 3 years? No. The major players understand that, subtle changes to their cars. You also won't see a new GS every 5 years.
The 3GS while not perfect to look at is one of the better looking cars and one of the best "styled" cars in class.
The 1GS facelift in 1996 changed not much as did the 2001 2GS facelift.

Here is the original link for the pictures:

Quote directly from the article: The exterior styling of the current model Lexus GS sedan has been essentially unchanged since the car was introduced for the 2004 model year. Now this prototype, photographed just recently in Europe, gives an indication that Lexus is working on a styling facelift.

Haven't had this much anticipation for a new release since ... the new Tool, or the new Porcupine Tree, or the new Dream Theater. Toyota is like Fort Knox with this secret.

lol, I'm mixed..maybe if I owned one with them. I do like the fact the 3GS gains sideview blinkers.

outside the bump in overall power, nothing excites me to want to pay what the dealers are going to want for it when it first come out...I would wait till 2009 when a few more cosmetic changes probably will take place.
But i am glad no major changes this soon on the gen 3 and happy with the 430...

Why is it that all the guys that just got 07 GS's hate the looks of the 08?
I think the 08 will have a number of subtle attractions, interior and exterior. As the 3rd year of production, I see it as the perfect time to jump in. Nits and picks should be pretty much resolved (rattles, features, creature comforts, brake dust, etc.). And, there's still several years before a significant body style change makes it look dated.
Love my 06, but seriously considering trading it in on an 08 and keeping it for the duration (5+ years) as it should be a well-sorted car to parnter with for the long haul.

Have you seen any pics of the new 08? Can you share them with us?
Because if you've read this thread thoroughly, you'd know that picture floating around this thread IS NOT THE NEW 08 GS. It is, AT BEST, a protoype showing the beginning stages of 1, maybe 2 of the 10+ rumoured changes.
For all you know, when Toyota releases the final product with ALL of the changes, there WILL be a lot of difference - subtle or otherwise.
