Yes, however with the LS 600h L and LF-A they've shown a willingness to cater to nich markets, that's new. I think they have an eye on expanding the upper segment of the Lexus lineup while not taking away from their bread and butter mainstream market. Rather it is a halo car incentive.

That's your problem right there.

It's pretty hard though. The M and the AMGs are legendary. It'd be like someone trying to come out with a coupe with an intention to "beat" a Supra TT.

They need to make an LS-F
Yes I believe that was Chip Foose who did it.

LS-F would be so expensive though...

In reality, probably, but we definitely hope not.

I think Rod Millen built the IS430. Chip Foose contributed to the body design, ie. mainly the 2 tone paint job:

See it always starts with a rumor...now people assume something that has no factual basis or evidence.

Come on, no way the GS-F is going to look like that. Someone with too much time on their hands and not a lot of imagination...

As for how well the IS-F will do, it'll do fine for what it is, a "starter" touch and feel vehicle for Lexus into the "M" territory. I'm sure plenty of Americans that can't drive manuals will jump on the IS-F. Just wish manual were an option.

It's probably just me but the "F" designation sounds wee todd did. The should have just called it the IS-GT500 as originally planned. "This whole look at me too, i have a cool sports model with a letter after it" sucks.

I dunno, whatev.

Its logical for the V-10 from the LF-A to go in the GS-F to share development costs. It would be the pefect engine for a new F series car.

Lexus may make solid, reliable, good-looking cars, but they completely suck the big one when it comes to *****-to-the-wall performance. Performance-wise, I would rank Lexus down there with Lincoln, with pretty much nothing that offers great numbers. They are nowhere near the BMW and Mercedes-Benz/AMG numbers, and I'm skeptical the F cars will even give the M3 and M5 a run for their money, let alone be M3/M5 killers.

Sucks, because I really do want Toyota to offer something that would be kinda fast and make good numbers.

When the GS400 Debuted in 1998, it was touted as the fastest automatic sedan in production. 0-60 in 5.4 secs but they haven't been able to capture any new thunder since that. The 3rd gen, performance-wise, gets killed by the M45, and bimmer 550. I dunno, Lexus is I guess heading another direction but why come up with all the hoopla of "F"cars and not make them AWESOME??? Lexus get your head out of your @$$!!!
